The video got my attention, and i checked the on call roster.
The DR650 needs a wash but it will probably just get an oil change!May 2, 2013 at 8:51 am #240904Hi guys,
Love to come along, and twisted my mates arm Adrian to join us (he should reply independently).
Based in Arcadia, I ride a duke Multistrada 1200 and am a keen kitesurfer (can even carry the board and kites on the bike) and with the local Rural Fire Service
Last weekend had a blast heading across on the Yengo Trail and back on the Old Convict Rd… On way back in St Albans was this huge Folk Festival.
Look forward to meeting some other adventurers and finding some new trails

May 2, 2013 at 9:34 am #240909Hi Grant, I know when you contacted me before the Yengo ride I may have expressed my concerns with you riding the Multi through Yengo… How did you go BTW?… I was probably thinking why would a sane person ride a $30K road bike on this trail?? Especially when I know so many riders… Good riders… on more capable bikes have come to grief on this trail.
However… I have spoken to TB who is in and out of contact as he heads West… and while we cannot tell you NOT to ride your Multi on this ride, we can say that IOHO we do not feel the bike would be entirely suitable for this ride, especially in the single track / pine forrest sections… However on a good day with near perfect conditions, an extremely competent rider would not have a problem (maybe)
NO SUPPORT!!!!!!

Sounds like a great ride and would like to join. I have a buddy who will likely join me as well.
thanks
May 2, 2013 at 12:21 pm #240913No issues in Yengo. With the knobbies and 185kg bike + roll bars etc, it actually is relatively nimble in the bush.
I would put it’s offroad handling between the BMW F800 and GS1200
Last ride was throwing it around a bit like my mountain bike
BTW: went much better once I worked out how to turn off the Dynamic Traction Control.
