Unfortunately gents I am out for this trip , something has come up with the family that I have to attend.
Supporting the daughter`s music performances gets the priority this timeBugger Eags, might catch you on the next overnighter. You might have to remind Kat about that ride plan, the wine may have fogged up her memory
We are putting together a route to Lithgow via Hill End and the Bridle Track, anyone know if you can still get past the fallen rock and land slide section? Its a big run from Cessnock but ppl welcome to join us if they are coming from the Hunter once we firm up the route. Will make for a Big weekend though.
I should probably look at booking accomodation at Lithgow though…… hmmm
November 2, 2013 at 11:23 am #248985Hi Squiggle
Getting past the “rock” will be no problem – even for an extra wide 990. Will be a BIG day out if the end of the ride finishes in Lithgow. If you are interested i can organise another time out there. see pics attached of the rock fall

I don’t know about the rock fall now but, lots of action there recently and adventure forum has made it very public and the council has reacted I believe. Further more the land slip between has got much worse, I don’t know if I would be going there and I sure wouldn’t put my name anywhere near running a ride through there if you get my drift
Adventure Rider Fourm good luck reading through that

November 2, 2013 at 10:09 pm #251318Hmmm, I thought we were on topic! Gotta get to Lithgow somehow for this ride. No good trailering bikes to ADV rides like some other soft touches
Wheelbarrow ridge and St Albans was fun but dont really want to do the same route again although its an option.
Roothog looks like fun, not sure on the 800 but didnt look too bad. TB the guy on the TM and Kato had the right idea, just ride the damn thing and let the gods decide :pinch: Bugger pushing them. Old mate on the ADV forum seems to have linked up some trails to come out at bathurst …. hmmmm
Ill do some more homework and post another topic if I feel the need
Suggestions welcome though TB

Just read the last few pages as they are more current. If it doesnt happen to get to Lithgow on the 30th might take you up on that TB, I was through there in 2004, great part of the world and hopefully council will sort the track out.
The safari vid was fun to watch, lots of wet bikes and that crossing caught quite a few of them. Might be a few less soccer balls in there now if old mate got through on a 1200
November 2, 2013 at 10:34 pm #248987Sorry Squiggs
I thought you guys were meaning a separate weekend ride to take on that route ??? My Bad
It would make a big weekend out of it that`s for sureCurrent reports and theories on the Bridal are not good to be honest.
Really glad I got to ride it once though, it is a cracker of a route, real pity it is closedA you were ,,,

Still have some deciding to do, trying to put together something interesting and still make it to lithgow without getting lost, broken or dead

I have my doubts about the 1200 to be honest as I know that crossing like the back of my hand and the track out of there  See the best in the country fall of on smaller bikes. As for the soccer balls I reckon its worse cause of lack of traffic and recent floods. I did it last in the lux and ended up with bent side steps bouncing from rock to rock :pinch:
If you are going to ride your 800 across like the TM and Kato I won’t be on the ride cause if it goes in it would be a 2hr plus job to dewater a Triumph 800 and I have dewatered a few bikes in my time :pinch:If you are going I can supply routes so you don’t get lost on the other side

Well thats hardly sporting TB though granted the Triumph is not the easiest bike for trackside repairs. Mute point though, the 300 is for trying out Hero moments, the adv is for relaxing weekends away.
Sounds like the only way to know for sure is to head and have a poke about about. That would have to be its own weekend really with time allowed for delays and backtracking etc etc
Gotta put some hours in for work at the minute but will have another look at routes later tonight and see if I can find a less controversial way to get there.
I dont want any “told you so” moments to come back and bite me and we want to be at the commercial drinking beer not looping around trying to find a way out of hillend or calling in rescue vehicles
Life sure is tough having to deal with all these dilemmas
November 3, 2013 at 9:15 am #248988Hi TB,
It is with deep regret that I have to withdraw from this ride. I was so looking forward to it too. Maybe I can get a spot on the next ride.
Guys have a great week end.

November 3, 2013 at 11:23 pm #248989I am going to ride to Lithgow on Friday 29 th , thinking of Watagans to Laguna , then via Finchly trig /Yengo to the Putty , Lunch at Grey Gums Cafe via the tar and then through Mountain Lagoon to Bilpin and then down the Tar via Bell line , just because I am a bit over the Mogo creek run and not looking to take all day to do it . Could add in a bit of dirt from Clarence to Lithgow if time is allowing .
There is lots of us coming from the Hunter area , are we all riding to Lithgow or will there be some trailer Queens  ?
