Found this vid on Tyre Changing a while ago, and getting the new Michy this week jolted my memory to find the vid again!!

I found it to be useful (being the amateur that I am  )
Thought it may be useful to others on OBT & might tempt them to have a go themselves,,,

PLUS,,, The more ya try at home, the more proficient ya will be out on the Trails on the next adventure ;)

The way I showed Dan is heaps easier Eagle, ask Dan or give me a ring and I will explain mate, trust me at the 4 day I did a rear tyre in my riding gear in under 5 mins, and that included removing and refitting the wheel the whole lot chain the works. Crash was there and did the same sort of the thing

Is there a reason why you leave the air in the tube when you put it back in the tyre?????

I just changed a front tyre this arvo  ready for a ride on friday with a few mates from work.
The bloke in the video makes it look so easy, but he isn’t using ULTRA HD tubes. Its like tryn to fit another F****n tyre inside the tyre :S

Any how its on now, just hope I dont have to fix a puncture on the trail.

Another trick with the HD tubes is to slip the tube inside the tyre before trying to fit the tyre to the rim. Then slip the rim into the tyre with the valve being placed into the hole in the rim, then place the v/v locknut on the v/v to keep it in place. This saves the fingers trying to get the v/v through the rim hole. Also if you leave the tyre in the sun to warm for a while it helps soften the tyre making it a little easier to fit.
Then work the tyre onto the rim as in the vid. I usually use some WD40 on the tyre bead to help it slip on (similar to using the talc) Just beware if you go to ride on the road after fitting the tyre with WD on it.

    Good luck eagle

Helps heaps if you have your rim lock near your valve, 4 spokes from the valve if you have to drill a hole to relocate it. This makes fitting tyre with the tube inside very easy. I cant explain here the easy way to remove the tyre and tube together, but its heaps easier than old mates way ask Dan. Maybe one day I will video it :P

It stops you getting a twist in the tube and minimises the chances of pinching it when refitting the tyre I believe.

The HD tubes stay up without the v/v core in place any way
and they are a lot harder to pinch when fitting

Yes my Rim Lock is in the favoured position:)

I normally use the talc to assist, not WD40 (Sorry Chop but I can`t forget the disc drama)

I will definitely quiz Dan on your quick method TB;)
Still looks like ya will have to get the camcorder out though to show the knack:woohoo:

I never really had any probs last time , just not in 4Day speed:laugh:

    Cheers All
