Whilst down at the Kenda last weekend Bill had purchased some new tyres from Sutto’s (See here) Well the tyres had to be fitted, Mal5.1 was keen to teach and Bill keen to learn.

Here is how to do it, its a little rusty as Bill learns but will improve. He did a great job and I think it maybe handy to anyone having a go at it themselves, you dont need a fancy stand you can do it on the floor as you will have to one day on the trails (unless you run Mousses)

Big thanks to Mal5.1 for his help and Bill wanting to learn.

Nice video’s boys couple questions What is the real advantage of the frame and do we all use 5 tyre leavers to take it off instead of just 2?

5 work the same as 2 Corey its just easier when you have them with you. The frame only helps hold the wheel, helps you back and makes breaking the bead easier.

You did a good job Bill, was happy to see how more confident you were regarding tyre changing when you finished

Do what I do, Find a mate with a tyre changing machine, let him do it cause it’s an OH&S issue it you do.

Too many tyres over too mnay years and I still suck at it, mainly cause I hate it.

Although sometimes you must do it on the trailside, gives a chance for a smoke and a drink break…

Do people really struggle with tyre changing that much really? i have always done mine since i was a kid and yes i have pinched my fair share of tubes as a kid but practise makes perfect really

My biggest problem is I find changing tyres like house painting, my mind wanders and I don’t like doing it so I avoid it, mundane things are like that sometimes…
But sometime you just have to do so, you just do it and think of new wqays to avoid it.

Not everything about this dirtbiking caper is fun, but I s’pose the hi-revving 4T boys already know that…..

Just changed over my first ever tyre. :woohoo: Only took about fifteen minutes from start to finish.

One question though. Do you tighten the rimlock before or after pumping the tyre up ?

my thought is to tighten it up after you pump the tyre up. that way you prevent pinching the tube between the lock and tyre/rim. ??

After as the air pressure will push on the rimlock and thus help to get a better grip ;)

Also when trying to remove the rimlock make sure there is no air pressure left in the tyre!
