May 19, 2012 at 2:17 pm #221082Unfortunately not able to make the bd ride mrs is taking me to the big rock in the centre. Me and a few mates have been using the kenda carlsburg and found them to be a great tyre riding a lot round Dora creek and red hill. I like the 952 when it’s new but can get scary half worn. Just bought set of kenda buds creek will let you know how they go.
May 20, 2012 at 1:21 am #222092Dunlop D952 is my tyre of choice as well. Front and rear. Tried a few different brands over the years and as my better half dislikes “unnecessary spending” (upgrades, regular maint, tinkering, tyres,,,,) , I need tyres that will not wear quickly in the predominantly rocky/hard terrain I ride in, as well as giving confidence all round.
New rubber for the BD ride. Cant wait!
BudgeMay 20, 2012 at 1:07 pm #222116I ended up with a 120/100 Pirelli MX Extra X I fitted last minute on Sat morning trying to get a ride in. The IRC that arrived from Rocky Mountain was a 130/80, despite my order and the invoice clearly stating it should have been a 130/100.
Normally I would have fitted the IRC anyway but it was too small to be fitted with the mousse. The Pirelli isn’t a great deal better though in the fitting department, still a comparitively small tyre.
As Boony says, it’s black with knobs on it so it will do. I hear Boony has extensive experience with balck knobs as well………
May 20, 2012 at 10:04 pm #222139Just got back from riding at Sunny Corner with Galey, running in some of his grade 5 loop, I started with a half worn Bridgestone 404 on the back and it is now destroyed, bits of knobs missing everywhere. I was getting plenty of traction, I guess thats why the knobs tore off. We only rode about 45kms.

Lucky it wasnt a soft terrain tyre. Then again if you dont spin the wheel up you wont tear the knobs apparently!
May 20, 2012 at 11:30 pm #222183Yep 404 is intermediate, I never really rated it thats why I put it for the ride today, If it got the crap ripped out of it (which it did) I don’t care.

BTW it isnt my theory its something I have heard from people smarter and better riders than me which isnt hard

May 20, 2012 at 11:59 pm #222186if your not sposed to spin up the back wheel why bother riding just my theory .buy tyres that can handle it and don t give a f%&k and have fun .so does this mean it will be safe to ride behind you TB(i dout it bet you go back to your old fun ways )

There is s difference between spinning it up and just sliding it and when it spins keeping it sideways and spinning for the hell of it isnt there   :woohoo: The 530 doesnt have the topend of the 650 but, the 530 has more bottom end snap but the 650 will brain it up top. Look its all something I am learning maybe, dont try dont know do you
