Well what a cracker. :woohoo:
Skies were cloudless all day and ground was damp.
Morning started with a power blackout so I couldn’t start the silly puter to see who was coming.
I had noticed that a couple had pulled out the night before so I guessed there would only be five of us.
Gotchya arrived first and we had a chat while waiting on KTM_Rules and Scott.
The other two arrived not long after and everybody geared up.
Left home at 8:30 and got straight into some tight singles before crossing Wangi Rd and headed towards Tims single.
Everyone made the step up out of the railway cutting so we hit Tims single proper.
The next test was a rock step up that again proved to easy. (Gotchya had a little trouble but we pitched in to stop him rolling back off the ledge)
Back up to the open stuff after finishing Tims single and then followed the old rail line out to Awaba.
Tunnel wasn’t too deep.
Did all of the usual stuff out to Wakey.
Peddled around K9 single then through Rocky Downhill single where we saw a young nipper and his Dad.
The young fella was only 7 years old. Now that was great to see them out taking in some hilly singles. :woohoo:
We all got down the rocks unscathed so it was onto Shanes trail then into more singles heading towards Queensland Gate.
More later.June 24, 2011 at 9:42 pm #203903We all arrived at the Queensland Gate track and I positioned the log at the step up at the base of the sandstone hill.
I wanted to get some pics here but Chris and Scott were too quick and both powered straight up the step and steep sandstone to the top.Gotchya said “I don’t think so” and opted for the zig zag approach which is still very tricky.
I had a crack and nailed it which made me very happy.:cheer: Poor Tim made a bloody mess of it and I could tell he was pissed. :pinch:  He had done it originally when we first found this track. Actually I sent him up it as there was no way I was going to be first.
I think Gotchya had a couple more issues on the way up to ridge.
Did a few singles heading south and then dropped down into the Westside loop. Again no dramas there so off to Razorback to see who would ride off the edge of the slab. Tim and I were the only ones but then Chris rode back up the bloody thing.  👿Well done mate, that was awesome. :woohoo: Lunch at the Gap servo after another nasty rutted downhill single.
I drew a map to get back to my place for Gotchya and he headed off due to a previuosly injured shoulder. Well done Gotchya it was good to seeya mate.
The rest of the crew headed around the Southside via Murphs single to the beginning of Amazon.
More laterJune 25, 2011 at 12:08 am #203915Feeling a little fatigued I let Scott and Chris go first (to tell you the truth I didn’t want to get in the road)
It was good to get confirmation that Amazon is probably a grade 5.
The boys left Tim and I behind. At one stage all you could see was smoke but on talking to Chris he assured me that his bike had too much oil in it and has done that before on steep gnarly sections. Both Tim and I also got through unassisted and that left some nice uphill single with three more testing sections. 👿 :woohoo:
After topping out we rode back down to Gap Ck Falls rd taking in as many singles as we could find. One particular track had me skirting the side of a puddle when I got caught in a vine which threw me off into the puddle with my leg stuck under my bike. :silly:  No harm done though and thanks to Chris for lifting the big old girl off me.
Rode out almost to where we used to rock climb then took the rocky track down to Bangalow. Chris and Scott thought I was going to slow and took the lead to the bottom.
Rode some of the singles around Bangalow before heading up and out then past the down hill pushy track back to Becks Rd.
Did the Quarry Hill and then headed for home taking the alternate route.
We did 120+ kms and I totally enjoyed myself. :woohoo: Except for cramps in my thighs on the way home.
Big thanks to Gotchya, KTM_Rules, Scott and Tim for making it a great ride. :woohoo: 😆
Prizes were offered to Chris and Scott but they declined as they don’t run tubes.
I was shocked when Chris said he had done The Roof of Africa 11 times. :woohoo: But it certainly made sense watching him ride and Scott too for that matter.
Cheers
MurphP.S. Some pics tomorrow, Didn’t take many as the pace was constant.

Pictures don’t do the steepness justice.
Nice videos KTM_Rules. :woohoo: Gives everyone an idea of the effort needed for the Amozon track. :woohoo:
