any recommendations for mechanics in newy area for valve clearance inspection

There are plenty of bikes shops in Broadmedow. I would rather take my bike to one of them than a general mechanic (unless I knew him).

It can’t cost more than $60-$90 to have your valves checked.

    What bike is it?

Go to Inskips at Toronto Novice. They will look after you and your bike. Tell them I recommended them.

Inskip motorcysles is a Yamaha dealer based out of Toronto, or West Lake Macquarie, they’d be a good bet I reckon :)

No everyone has one, and no-one wants to ride THAT!

I should hope 640s have high service intervals they are afterall an Adventure cycle.

I too shall apologise to Novice for Hi-jacking his thread, but whatchya gunna do, it’s how we roll.

Get a workshop manual, a set of gauges, invite a mechanically minded mate around, and violia valve clearances done, unless you need a shim set, in which case, have your mate visit you twice, first time to measure clearance a carton will do, secondly to install said shims after you have ordered them, BBQ and carton should do the trick.

Yes I have been discovered like a seppomenace even by oh mighty Mick of the church of the XRs’ only…..see I too once secombed to the alure of a lazy 4 stroke, I had a 1994 XR 280 engine nestling in an immaculate 1992 Cr250 chassis with trick suspension and stoppers, unfortunately the whole carburettor thing annoyed me so I sold it unfinished, and went back to my Smokers
