XR valve clearances are somewhat easier. Didn’t take you long to catch on, Bruce from Northern NSW.

steps
1/ turn wheel so that valve stem is on the bottom, not to be mistaken for rim lock stem.2/ Unscrew valve stem protector, usually black plastic but can come in different materials (not important) however if you do not have these protectors/caps I recommend you get some as it will make step 3 easier as it assist to keep out mud and stuff.
3/ With protection cap removed, look at the litte steel stem on top of the valve. it should have the same clearance from all sides of the valve stem, if there is a variance you have dodgy valve clearance and you need to by a DRZ.

Hey, Bull that was a good offer,when I have a bike that requires shims I will keep that in mind as I dunno how to do it,properly.

May 13, 2009 at 11:56 pm #133951thanks Dan D and moto for your thoughts i got onto axis motor sports at cardiff [only just up the road from home]they build race bikes and run a team quoted $40-$50 for inspection plus shims if required said that wr’s can be a pain anyway check out website if you like http://www.axismotorsport.com.au two out of two threads started both have gone to sh#t but its bloody good entertainment would’nt have it any other way.
