well what a poorly organised event that was

nar, well a bit rushed from an interstater’s point of view because all the other attendees knew the times and meeting places etc.

i packed all the needed gear and set off for Macedon on friday arvo ( after waiting around for as long as posable for the damned Telstra guy tu turn up. he never showed  )

approx 7pm ish Mr Menace was wondering where i was as i had not posted in the ride thread since that morning, and confirmed i was coming. but 1/2 way through the conversation the mobile connection was lost, Dimmy sent me a text that included the offer that if i had any dreams oops that was how i read it  need eye’s checked :P

if i had any >dramas< to call him, something i doubt he will offer in the future 😆

anyway i arrived at the caravan park 10min after their office closing time :( 9p.m.

the lady was a bit short at first but quickly warmed up and alotted me a patch of grass and pointer out the camp kitchen.

i set up my bar and sent Menace a pick with the text “i’m set. };~))”.

cooked a feed and had a few refreshments while the barby did it’s thing.

fed my face. then wandered to the swag and settled in for a good nights sleep.

and apparently Deno did the same at exactly the same time! how bout that :)

i know this as we exchanged texts  at about 11:20something ish

although his was not too complimentary

    :pinch:

i awoke around 8:30 a.m. saturday showered, cooked up bacon and eggs. set off for Gisborne to scope out the meeting point ( Gisbourge plod shop). then drove out to find Carrolls lane and upon finding Wombat state park.

now i found myself with 2hrs to kill. so i found an unloading spot amongst some other riders doing the same. now i thought hour and a 1/2 leisurely cruise and i’d be back in time to meet at the plod shop by 12:30.

so in my shorts, tee shirt and runners/sneakers i unloaded K8ii, filled my camel pack an grabbed my helmet, to the amazement of the guys unloading a cr 250 and crf 450? maybe 250, but he was a bigger guy so i guess 450.

the guy on the cr asked “Your Going Out In Shorts and Sneakers?!?!”.

i replied that i was just off for a cruisey sighting ride and will gear up when the others arrive.

off i go putting around soaking up the scenery.

i text Menace to inquire where the start was to be but i did’t get a reply so around 12:00 i loaded up again and headed back to the meeting point.

once all where present we headed back out and unloaded, greet and meet with Marty, the ring in on an rmz450.

we rode some good trails i tried to get a quick vid along one section but i think i lost it when i loaded the stills onto my puter

anyway here was one of the smoke stops, bloody smokers

    IMG_0019.jpg

    stop for a photo opp

    IMG_0018-1.jpg

we stopped for some snags, coleslaw and refreshments. and bid fairwell to Marty who had just finished his 2nd day ever riding in the bush, but he looked like the entrance to Luna Park :woohoo:

we did the sums on how much longer we could spend in the saddle to maximise the roost to daylight/ curfew ratio,

Aido persuaded Dave to take us via a water feature. and set off on another 1/2hr adventure

    IMG_0020-1.jpg

we did some fire trail and some single trail where i had a few agronomy refresher courses  on the way to this sopt

    IMG_0021-1.jpg

    IMG_0023-1.jpg

    IMG_0022-1.jpg

we made our way back to the cars, some made good use of Menace’s fruity refresher towels, and all agreed they may at first seem odd, just by the name they have but the refreshment they provided was more than satisfactory ! ;) and will be on the shopping lists for the next ride.

we packed up and did what Menace’s number plate says. :silly: :P

i drove the 300 km trip home, unloaded the car but not K8ii

now the rest of you who attended can put up your side of the story

that is if you have not done so as i type :P

thanks to Aido for needing to test his tuned suspension, GPS Dave for leading us most of the way.

JAK for turning up and riding sweep, Marty for being slow :P he was just finding his way around his steed, i finally had someone that i was quicker than, for a while. he too got quicker and quicker as the ride went on :woohoo:

    Top stuff Marty!! B)

    and i think that’s it.

oh thanks Menace for cooking some snags and copping some rocks :P :P apparently

Great report and pics XY.I hope you had a good day, many thanks for the mighty effort coming down to melbourne to ride with us.XY sorry to dissapoint you with my organising but i was going out by myself on this ride and then all of a sudden people wanted to come along,i did my best. :( .All in all nothing spectcular happened on this ride. The conditions were fantastic and we couldnt have ordered better weather.Riders for the day were aido,dave61,menace,jak,xytransit and marty,smurf19 was a late cancelation after hurting his back doing commando rolls over a dog kennel  dave was leader for the day and just about all of us took it in turns with sweeping duties,We rode some great open stuff mixed in with some even better singles. All hill climbs were mastered by everyone and allthough we all stopped looking back at some water crossings hoping for someone to go swiming none eventuated. We did a solid two hours riding before heading back to the cars for something to eat and to send Marty home to she who must be obeyed.menace cooked us sausages on the barbie which went down great with bread and coleslaw. Thanks to sammy must go out once again for the great cold meat platter and the lolly bags. After a couple of refreshments we headed out once again and even though dave took us in the wrong direction than we had planned we eventually found a great little water crossing and some tight singles to fill in the last hour of the day.I hope you all had a good afternoons riding and i look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Watch at one point when riding along the fence line. I can hear the Menace behind me so i decide to try and roost him but the A hole went to my left and soaked us both. :( :(

Would love to spend a full day out there.

Should be pointed out to that that was only the second time Marty had been on a bike. Done bloody well to. Got out of shape a couple of times but held it together well. Even XY impressed up till the last ten minutes when he decided to have a couple of slow motion offs in the wet. He does alright for a big fella on a big bike. Also a bloody big effort driving the hours he did to attend.

    exciting parts of the ride…..

met aido and co. at servo….(not really exciting)
met xy at meeting place and JAK soon graced us with his presence. :P (still not really exciting)

drove to carrolls lane and unloaded. (with a sprinkle of excitement)

cut sick on heaps of tracks. ;)

i was spewin that i had forgotten to empty my SD card before leaving and missing some good action through the “water features”…..even had a clear shot of XY stacking it…and let me tell ya, big guys dont bounce

i couldnt believe how much everyone has improved since i first rode with them, only 6-8 months, amazing shit.

hitting xys kill stitch on the move:laugh:

    tried to roost everyone….

…got roosted a few times by pretty much everyone

had some great dices with aido, jak and xy, sick fun :woohoo:

hitting every bog i could (within reason) and roosting out of them :woohoo:

seeing the look on the new ring in, Martys face…only his 3rd time in the bush. he did really well too. grinning from ear to ear he was.

the snacks, meat platter and the bbq. deliciouso. all washed down with a couple of beers……

thanks to everyone who rode, especially drew who came from deniliquin, i hope the trip and ride was worth it.
you have now seen first hand, our typical southern “she’ll be right”, organised kaos :P :P
