December 2, 2009 at 9:33 pm #163606Hey Moto
I have done a lot of video editing (skiing and MTB content) and have used four different products. The best value for money and most intuitive layout is the Pinnacle Studio series. Not sure which version they are up to but the learning curve is short, the price is right and the results are pro.STM

AnonymousCheers for the info STM, I do note they do a freeware version too which might be a good starting point.
December 2, 2009 at 9:56 pm #163703Or any of the file sharing sites where you can probably pick up a full working version for nada. Just watch out for the Beta versions, they are not always complete.

AnonymousTrent – What SD cards are you using in GoPro? Will the SDHC cards work, they are the same size but the card I went to buy stated on the front that I need to ensure the device is suitable for SDHC.
I looked (very briefly) through the instructions that are still sat in my car and it mentions nothing of the type of card to be used.
I pretty sure it will be okay but thought I’d check before buying.
December 3, 2009 at 2:45 am #163762Yeah I think I have 2 sandisk 2gb SDHC cards though I’ve recently been told that they like kingston brands best for some reason and you can now go up to 4gb with the flash upgrade. Dags over at DBW is a bit of an authority on them since he bought a heap and was renting them out.

AnonymousI was reading the wrong deatils from their website, the HD can take much more memory.
The WIDE version can take upto 4gb SDHC with a free firmware upgrade from their website. Glad I realised that as I was going to get an 8gb card
I got 1 2gb card with the package supplied by Sutto’s.

December 3, 2009 at 10:07 pm #163506Moto,
I use VideoStudio. Not all that user friendly. Took me ages to learn the basics. I dare say all video editing progs are much the same in that respect. I’m pretty quick at it now but it took a long time to get there. My family did a big holiday back in 2006 and I got hold of VideoStudio to make some holiday DVDs, mixing photos, text, video and music (eleven DVDs in total). The holiday took 8 weeks. The DVDS took 8 months!Computer Choice did a review in 2007, comparing Ulead VideoStudio10, SonyVegas, Roxio Creator9, Nero7, Pinnacle10 and Adobe Premier elements3. They recommended Roxio then Adobe. VideoStudio came in third, and was stated as having “excellent ease of use”. If that’s the case I’d certainly struggle with the others. A guy at work bought the SonyVegas, had trouble using it asked me to take it home, have a play with it then show him how to use it. No thanks – Ulead is hard enough. Another fellow had the Pinnacle(v7) and he gave up in frustration, so it’s back in its box.
You need a lot of time to get up to speed. I did anyway. Others may disagree.
Note that Ulead has been bought out by Corel and the latest version is Corel VideoStudioX2 (ie v12). That’s what I’m using as of two weeks ago.
My advice; STAY AWAY FROM VIDEO EDITING SOFTWARE – IT’S DIVORCE MATERIAL !

AnonymousHaha, thanks for the tips TW and the laugh I had reading that
December 6, 2009 at 11:14 am #163507there is heaps you can do with movie maker if you search, you will need to pay a $8.00 fee to get rehan which makes most of the effects work..
and there is thousands if you are tech enough you could write your own no different to writing codes for a forum etc..i don’t have a computer with sufficient ram to run any decent editing program at the moment so just use the very basic movie maker..
i had only just started to play with movie maker seriously when my other computer crashed..
but here is a vid that used movie maker only…
