Well Dan was real keen for this one and he should be doing the lead report so I wont steal his thunder and make this a quicky.
7 of the boys rocked up at Olney camp ground, 2 of the others were at the Pines about 400 metres down the road they had got there real early as well finaly they realised this and made it to the correct place.
in attendance were:
DanD
BigT
Trev
Red
Murph the Smurf
Son of Murph the Smurf
Ollie
Gili
P-Dubafter meeting everyone a basic ride route was organised.
Gili donned the leaders jackt first up and led us through all of the single trail around the Pines,The tracks were pretty full of water and the pace was pretty casual. We went a bit to far in the single track and came up on Prickly ridge rd insted of Martinsville rd so by the time we realised this we decided to keep heading down to Muirs lookout. P-dub knows the tracks pretty well and he took over lead duties. WE did some nice single trail, on one downhill section I got a bit excited and was overtaking on the inside,my barkbuster hit a small sapling and pushed it out of the ground:ohmy:the tops of it came down and hit Trev who didnt know WTF was going on:laugh: I managed to keep the bike upright. Unfortunatley a big log was down so we backed out of there. We then hit more single trail were the boys got a bit seperated. when we finaly caught up I told everyone to kill the engines and explained the cornerman system to them after that we didnt have anymore issues. P-dub led us onto Watagans forest Rd wher we had a bit of a break and a refuel,as we were now on the southside I did some lead duties,we did the single track on either side of the main rd which was good fun, eventually coming out at Hitchcocks, Gili went in front And I was right on his tail, Hitchcocks has a lot of wide open trails to begin with then it descends into rocky shelve drop offs Gili, P-dub and myself waited at the rock shelfs for some entertainment value P-dub had the camera ready for action, I think he got some photies and and yes there was indeed some different styles. When we all got down the hard bits we had a bit of a break, somehow we got onto politics, football, taxes you name it and red was going off (he is a painter and listens to talk back radio all day,his words not mine):laugh:We were going to go right on the main rd and back up Maculata trail but were not real sure of the fuel state so we decided to go left back past the Dooralong Pub and into the bush there. I had swapped bike with DanD to see how the little WR250R went, Nice plusho suspension and steered well had plenty of go once you got the revs up,Yamaha would sell a heap of these if they came out in a 400.We came across a Lady on a huge grey stallion, he was not to happy with the bikes and was getting upset,I got the last few boys to kill their engines so she could go around us.all was good P-dub directed us back into the bush and up a few main main Rds we hit some more sigle trail and did a really good little downhill. after a rest we then kept going working our way back to the junction of Prickly ridge road and lemon tree. It was here that The Gasser cased out and the bashplate came loose, I couldnt be bothered fitting it back up so I hid it in the bush to pickup later. We then worked our way past Muirs again and into the single trail, it was here that red decided to give his XR a few beans and nearly did a vertical Launch, funny stuff, He must of been a bit knackered as P-dub and Dan had to help him get going again,Gili took over the lead again through the single trail and Murph was relieved of his sweep duties. We had a bit of a crack going through the sandy whoops and back past the carpark, a little bit of single track then back to the cars. As we loaded up the bikes it started pissing down so we timed it pretty good. We all had a good ride and no-one got hurt.
Thanks Dan for organising the ride,P-dub for leading most of the way,Gili for leading and Murph for Sweeping great effort. Also thanks to the others that came along a really good trail ride. Sorry I dont have Pics but P-dub will post some I am sure.
PS the trip back to get the bash plate was interesting, The red clay was as slippery as hell and Gili had the Triton sideways on a few occasions out of his control (only 2wD):woohoo:ollie

April 20, 2009 at 7:13 am #129802Go p-dude looks like you had a good ride
hope you got your armour back from toolbagApril 20, 2009 at 7:25 am #129783It was a great ride Bully boy
I will put some more up later.
I’m afraid Toolbag Overnight Transport was a little late getting home so no I didn’t get my armour in time
Ollie lent me some so it was all good.Cheers OllieApril 20, 2009 at 11:13 am #129784Here is a few more shots from Sundays ride.
Here we have Red[The only man I’ve ever met that likes Anthony Mundine] making sure he makes it down Hitchcocks in one piece.
Tim[Murph Junior]Descending on the KTM 2 Smoker with his old man watching.
A smiling Murph making sure he doesn’t put it down in front of the camera.
April 20, 2009 at 11:52 am #129785Reds mate Pip taking the XR for a Sunday stroll.
I love this shot>At first glance I thought he looked like he was scrubbin it[Chad Reed style]
But then I realised he was actually goin a bit slower than that
When we got to the bottom there was a bit of mud :woohoo:
And Red charged through it like a demon on the LRP.
After a road section we started heading back towards Prickly Ridge and did a couple of steepish downhills.Tim makes a safe trip down.
And Murph follows.
And we all made it back to the cars in one piece.
Gili and Ollie load up to go home.
Thanks to everyone for a great ride and sorry I didn’t get pics of everybody but there is always next time.
Special thanks go to Ollie for lending me some body armour[Karma for that one mateand DanD for the offer of the same].
Murph>Thanks for sweeping mate.I should of dropped back earlier and let you follow the young bloke some more.
Ps I told you that that Red clay on the way out to retrieve your bash plate was the slickest stuff I’ve ever been on Ollie .I reckon we should go down there after a downpour and have a contest to see how long someone can ride diagonally without ending up on the ground :woohoo:

April 20, 2009 at 9:56 pm #129866Thanks for the ride Sunday
Excellent reports.
I’m getting a bit of an idea of the tracks up that way now.
Will be heading up there again in June with Mal5.1.
Might sneak one in before that starting at Onley heading out past the Basin to the Kulnurra turnoff, seems to be alot of singles out that way too.
Cheers

AnonymousBelieve it or not I did write a ride report – more like a novel.
But for some reason I got logged off mid report and when I hit submit I was told that I couldn’t.
So long story short. Excellent days riding all the stuff I enjoy doing. Great bunch of blokes, top trails and excellent ridng weather.
Special mention to Murph, P-Dub, Ollie and Gili for leading and sweeping.
Looking forward to the next one.
Dan
