Ollie said to me he had some grief with his foot. I hope it’s okay mate :)

It’s is true I did ride matey boys Honda up the hill, he had had a couple of goes and rolled down the hill on his arse every time and was starting to look tired so I offered. It only occured to me when I got to the bottom of the hill that I didn’t have my helmet on.

IT’S NOT BIG OR CLEVER TO RIDE WITHOUT A HELMET.

It was a good ride though and thanks to P-Dub we did quite a few tracks I’ve never ridden before :)

Gili and I arrived at Casuarina about 10 minutes late sorry guys. Gili had to oil his air filter and I had my chain to do
In attendance for today’s fun and Games were:
    Ollie Gas Gas 300
    Gili Yammy WRF450
    Moto KTM 450
    KTM450 – KTM450
    P-Dub Honda XR400
    Trent – KTM 250F
    Ol mate (sorry) CRF 450
    Jeffro Suzuke DRZ400
    DanD Yammy 250 WRR
Sorry If I forgot someone (moto help)

After the usual meet and greets we got on the way, we headed for a quick blast down German Point Rd. We went past a family on pushbikes so I kept that in mind for the return leg where we have to come back. A couple of the puddles going down greens were fairly deep and 2 of them managed to wash my feet off the pegs! KTM450 who was closely following got a wave of water over him (sorry) and a few others had a off on the way down to the Quarry. This was a quick blast with wide twin track riding which made for spirited riding. We worked our way back to the main Rd and headed for Bowman’s Rd, the Corner man system was working a treat, we headed down a big long rocky downhill, every one appeared to be having fun,lol this bit of Rd has been totally decimated from those extreme 4wd and is going to be soon closed by the forestry. We then headed up new Mill rd and came across a few 4wd’s luckily they were spotted early and not half way round a bend!. I then headed into a favorite little single track with a tricky little uphill, there is no run-up to this hill and there is a large flat rock right in the middle. The go is to hit it straight on watching your wheel spin and control your revs with the clutch. Gili and I waited on the main Rd as we heard a lot of revs coming from the bush, this was a real tester.
After a while the boys gradually made their way out onto the Rd the color of their faces gradually getting redder and redder until Dan who was sweeping came out with a bright red dial, I thought he was going to explode, he had just helped 3 boys manhandle their bikes up this tester.
With everyone gathering their breath we got going into some more tight single trail, I came out onto the Rd and was a little bit dis-oriented we met another group of lads who had just lost a couple of their riders!. Unfortunately somehow we managed to meet head-on out in the tracks again a lead riders worst nightmare, luckily both ol mate and me headed left and we both had our headlight blazing, whew close call, We headed into some ST and came out onto the Rd I was looking for, a bit of a squirt down the main Rd and onto Caters. Caters is a real fast twin track that gets used by forestry workers and in one section there is a 2 foot drop off which has a huge build up of silt and is as soft as yoghurt. Well the front end of the Gasser dug in and the seat came up and gives me a good whack in the duds I came within a poofteenth of going over the bars, Gili was cackling like a demented Hyena after taking some quick evasive action. Apparently behind me all sorts of antics were being played. It was here also that I was a little bit wobbly from my previous actions that I wandered a bit to far to the right of the track and my boot got smashed by a log about 3 inches in Diameter the pain was pretty bad, but not enough to stop me, I was having to good a time. We head on and a bridge that we normally use was a bit the worse for wear I get off the bike and start to push it over, unfortunately my footing was not real good and I got myself into a precarious situation, luckily Jeffry was able to take the controls and walk it out for me, thanks mate. I think Dan got photies of this bridge (Dan)
After we got over the bridge we did more single trail back to the cars for a BBQ. Meeting us there was Champo and Tracey their timing could not have been better, we got into the cooking on the back of the Ute with a couple of drinks to wash it all down. A quick top up of the fuel and we were back into it. Jeffro left us at this point as he had removalist duties to do. Gili led this time and we had a good pace going, we hit the sandy whoops and I wanted to test the compression settings on the Gasser (still soft) and pounded through them. We get back onto Prickly ridge rd and then head down into Greens break fire trail, this is an awesome track that can be done at speed, but you have to be wary as other bikes and 4wds use this track more and more. This track again brought out some more spirited riding from the Boys. We then come to a nice Hill climb that certain Administrators have had difficulty with. Gili and I go first and get straight up. We stand and watch from the top to watch the frivolity unfold before us. Ol mate on the CRF had several tumbles before Moto helped him out, P-Dub tractored the tractor straight up and Dan did a top job on the little WR, The Video shows a bit of the Fun. We then hit some more single trail around the wishing well area Moto and the boys had a bit of a duel on some of the sandy uphills. P-dub particularly enjoyed it as he has never ridden in there before even though he has been riding the Wato’s for a long time. We eventually come out at Muir’s lookout and I took the lead again. We get into more twin track riding which are real good fun and all 4-5 gear stuff. Finally we arrive back on the main Rd. It was here that a couple of the guys wanted to do Hitcocks. This was not in my original plan as it would take a bit of riding to get there! Anyway P-Dub takes the lead again and takes us along to a track which we call “the Link” I cant remember ever using it but I will in the future, it was here that Trent and Ol mate on the CRF were starting to show signs of fatigue, making silly little mistakes, the CRF was having its own issues, with the lekky start failing and not wanting to kick start easily. It was here that Dan and these two blokes headed back to Camp, I don’t know young bucks lol

We were down to 5 heading along twin tracks in an effort to get to Hitcocks I suddenly see Moto’s legs go right up high and a im emitting a Squeal like a little girl WTF!! Then I realize why, a big red belly black snake about 41/2 feet long at least. We then head over past the Null rd where P-dub mistakenly leads us astray we do about 10 k’s of top gear twin trail which was really good fun eventually getting ourselves back onto Watagans forest Rd where we head down into Hitchcocks, This a a great track with some big rocky shelf drop offs to negotiate which then leads into Jurassic park like areas before coming out down onto the main Rd. We were going to do some hard single trail but our light was fading fast and the bikes were getting low on fuel so we decided to head back the short way. The boys were practicing their wheel stands on the main rds and all I can say is “more practice required”. We finally reach the camp area and were greeted By TB & Salina who had cruised over on the NX. We had covered 120 odd km’s today and the body was feeling it especially my foot as it had really started throbbing. We loaded up and headed home needless to say I slept like a babe last night and am still feeling it today. We had a good ride and met some new people who we hope to see out there again sometime.
Thanks again to everyone that attended.

Nice report Ollie ;) Hope the foot’s feeling ok mate.
    Highlights for me were
#Watching the Bulls lend a hand to others when required
#A tasty lunch[Good idea that one]The jury is still out on whether my sausage tastes better than Ollies
#Standing at the top of Greens Break hillclimb watching the action[Money can’t buy that sort of entertainment]
#That little loamy trail after Greens Break
    # Coming around the corner to find Moto having a bit of a lay down[Thought he may suffer from sleep apnea or something]
#The way the ride flowed at a good pace without too many breaks
    #The wildlife>I spotted 2 Echidnas,1 black snake and a Wallaby.
#Seeing the boys that left early know when it was time to call it a day before the fatigue sent them for a dirt nap.
#learning a few new trails that make it handy to link things up[Who said ya can’t teach and Old Bull new tricks]
    # And last but not least everyone making it home in 1 piece.

    A few other things
1/Moto,next time you ask me if I know where I’m going and I say yes maybe you should say”Are you sure Pete?”

3/Jeffro,Sorry to hear about your car dramas but it’s just as well you had the DR in the back to get you home :)
4/DanD,I left your sweep vest with Moto.
5/When I say I,ve got the maps I should actually carry them with me rather than leave them in the car B)
6/I should fill my Camelback at every opportunity.Doh!
7/Gili,I owe ya a couple of litres of fuel mate.
8/I thought I felt ok after 120ks as I washed my bike and gear straight away but when I woke up this morning it was a different story :S

I remember Ollie saying something about catching his foot on a log or stump or something at one stage, he said at the time he thought he may have broken something.

I hope the boys had a better arvo than I did, snapped the fan belt in the car on the way down the mountain. I managed to limp back to Avondale servo with no steering (some of those hairpin turns were a struggle)and a bit (make that a lot)of overheating. Problem being that nothing was open on Anzac day. Road into Morriset but no joy there, got back to the car and it had cooled down so drove to Freemans waterhole and left the car there and rode home. Rode back today with new belt only to find the water pump has seized, had to get it towed home.

The morning ride was good though, although a bit shorter than I would have liked. Only one semi-dificult hill which I managed to make more difficult by baulking at the only real obstical, other than that there was some cool singles and some flowing open tracks. I will upload a couple of photo’s tomorrow if I get a chance at work (I don’t have my photobucket password here at home)tomorow.

It might be a good idea to try and organise some track maintenance, all that riding with my head on the handle bars ducking under branches gets in the way of some great riding. If we all spent 1/2 an hour on our favourite tracks when we went out it could make for more enjoyable riding.

    hey jeffro

we spotted a, what looked to be intact, fan belt lying on martinsville hill road whilst riding up for lunch. it was just past the hair pin, which is just past the wishing well. we left it there as someone may want it back.

It wasn’t mine mate, the remains of mine were still under the bonnet.
