Probably the hardest day I’ve had on bikes :X :X
Arrived at Dunks Lane at 8:00 and was a little dissapointed to find only Gilli and Dan at the starting gate:( Good to ride with true Old Bulls who have there heart set on adventure regardless of the conditions.
Started off with light showers which came and went all day. Gilli lead as I had no idea where to go:unsure:  He took us up Watagan Forest Rd (WFR) and down a track to a dead end as do a lot of the trails in the Watto’s do.
He made up for it on the next one though. An awesome single which had everything. I came a little unstuck on one of the steep downhills and unfortunately used a tree to pull me up:silly: :silly: Luckily it didn’t damage my RH radiator. The boys didn’t see it but they must of wondered why I was walking my bike down;) We travelled through some beautiful lush gullies exiting via a steep rocky hill(thanks Gilli for lifting the 525 off me at one section)
We then followed some more single leading to “Prick Hill” which lived up to its name 👿 We had done this before but not in these conditions:silly: Gilli went straight up making it look easy. Then it was Dans turn. He almost topped out but threw his Yammy away at the top (flipping it) Did much better on his second attempt. I was next and made a mess of it but I didn’t think I could do much better on a second attempt so with help from Gilli and Dan, I struggled to the top :X It was good to see my son Tim do it much better than me (not:angry: ) Following the single, Dan and I had issues with another hill but we managed to get up on the second or third attempt. Gilli and Tim just seemed to float up:angry:
After coming back out onto WFR we headed down a single into the unknown:unsure:  What started off as a nice steep single very soon became steeper and it was then we realised we had bitten off more than we wanted. Even with all of the steel mesh the track had turned into a slippery dip. Dan thought it was easier just to watch his bike slide on its side down the last 25 feet:laugh:  From the bottom of the gorge there was only one way to go, UP :X :X :X :X This was the only time I saw Gilli fall. He did the old “put your foot down where there is no ground” trick and he had a little lie down:laugh: It was good to see he was human and not some alien from the planet Moto-X. After much pulling and pushing we had three bikes up the first section of snot :X :X On trying to start Tims 200 the unimaginable happened:ohmy:   The kickstarter broke off:ohmy:  Gilli had a go at fixing it with a hose clamp but it didn’t hold:ohmy: The next plan was to drag the bike back up the steel mesh and clutch start it. No good:ohmy:  We then pulled, pushed and dragged the KTM up the snot to where the other bikes were :X :X :X :X As we were catching our breath I took a look at my kickstarter. Out with the tools and we swapped my 07 525 kicker with Tims 03 200.Can’t beleive how many parts on KTM’s are interchangeableB) From there we were able to get each bike one by one, inch by painful inch to the top of the mountain :X :X :X On the way back to WFR I noticed another steep looking single leading off to the left. Maybe worth exploring if we ever have another drought;) On the way back to the cars we dropped back into the singles and did a reverse take on “Prick Hill”. Thanks again Gilli for the help on one last steep section before getting back to the cars at about 1:30 We had travelled 39km in 5 hrs, not bad considering:woohoo: :woohoo:
Also thanks to you Dan who made me feel better as I’m sure you came off more than me:cheer:
Awesome day out The pussy’s who piked it really missed out :silly: :silly:
The Dude and I are going out on Thursday to do a reco ride for when Mal comes up if anyone is interested???
We will be starting at Olney and riding the singles to the Basin, then heading for the Koala trail and hopfully pushing down onto Watagan Creek Rd.
Cheers to all

AnonymousGood report Murph. You are right it was 38km of hell. I have NEVER put my bike down as many times as I did on Saturday. The conditions were very slippery and it wouldn’t of mattered what tyres you were using they would of turned to slicks in no time at all.
The tracks that we done were all very challenging given the conditions but everyone got through. Although at a few stages I was ready to leave the bike in the bush and walk out. Prick Hill lived up to it’s name I got a bit carried away and launched my bike standing it up and spinning it around to face back down the hill for another go.
Son of Murph had a good day (except for the kick starter) I dont think he even cracked a sweat.
Gili done a top job of leading us through the slop and I think he managed to stay upright nearly all day.
Me and Murph had a few lay downs (I reckon I had more than everyone though).
All in all a good ride but I reckon I might puss it next time it’s raining. I would like to the same loop again but when it’s dry.
Thanks to Gili, Murph and Son of Murph for the ride and helping me getting my bike up the hills.
Also thanks for the blat on the 450 Gili. Nice bike.

AnonymousSorry for bailing boys, I’m glad you got a ride sorted and had some fun though. A number of factors caused me to bail, not least of which was the rain. If you had ridden the Cavbes ride you wouldn’t want to get that cold and wet again so quickly (although Dan obviously did!). That and I had people round for my Birthday and had stuff to do I made the call to bail.
I’ll take the pussy whipping I deserve. Sorry if I let you boys down.
