The starters were Me, GavXR and GavB meeting at Hawkmount Rd Dora Creek at 8.30. I hadn’t ridden these trails for a couple of years and I was looking forward to it. GavB lead through the single trail straight away. There was single trail everywhere, just fantastic.
We made our way to Awaba MX Track crossed the road and to the tunnel under the freeway where we met a group of riders, one with a flat tyre, who pointed us in the direction of a nice little trail with a bit of a hill climb and black soil single trail.
At the turnoff to Sugarloaf we decided to go straight to The Gap servo for refreshments. Even though it has construction fencing around it bikes can still go where they have always gone. While we were there some 4WDs went down the track.
We sat around there and watched the black clouds and rain come down and had a feed.
GavB munching pie
The rain stopped and we went through the armco on the main road south to the Watagans and went about 10 km down a great track till we came to Private Property signs that I need to investigate. We turned around just in case.
Towards Monkey Face we decended the rocky Flaora and Fauna Track to more private property signs on the other side of the fence the way we were going???
Anyway, I know the situation there so we did a different track that was recently graded until we hit lots of recently felled trees. After bush bashing around them we came out behind the Cooranbong shops and was at the cars at 2.30.
There was only one noteable fall by GavXR on a rutty downhill and one short hill that needed a push.
Eveyone was smiling at the end so a good day had by all.
lotsa

Actually, we trailered the bikes to the Gap Servo wearing our riding gear and ate pies.
April 20, 2009 at 10:48 am #129847What is it about eating pies that makes you have a goofy face??? Check out the pic of me eating a pie on the Hill End Ride report.

April 20, 2009 at 9:39 pm #129849G-day Lotsa
Sounds like you’s had a good day out.
We ride those tracks alot as we are based at Rathmines.
The single from Dora is a great track with a few testing sections as is the other one on the other side of the freeway near Waki. There is another just north which runs along the side of the mountain that has a real snotty down hill at the end.
We will be riding that way again in a couple of weeks, might even post it and see if anyone else is keen.
Cheers

MurphSounds good Murph.
Post up and I’ll be there. I was looking for the ‘snotty down hill at the end’ track, but forgot where it was. If it is the one I am thinking of it has some largish loose rocks and runs between a couple of trees. Good photo op.
April 21, 2009 at 11:53 am #129836Yeah, Nice run there Lotsa;)
GavB was still grinning yesterday when he gave me the rundown of the day at work:laugh:
He loves to rub the salt in when I miss a good ride like that.:angry:Next time I hope to be there:woohoo:

Don’t do that to me Moto, I don’t think they would get up from one of your crashes.

AnonymousNah I have ridden with him before that. Watties or Sugarloaf or something. With a group that I used to ride with.
Either that or he has a doppelganger
