My thoughts exactly Bob. We may have rego but it’s a bit hypocritical getting on our high horse about it when you are breaking the law as soon as you touch some single trail. I’m also guessing that means that if you injure yourself (or worse somebody else) when not on a formed then your CTP and comprehensive insurance is null and void. Hadn’t thought of that before either.

I think as long as you arent bashing through virgin bush its a formed track, yeah I know its not exact but what can we do

They try and close off the single tracks at Belanglo and make people just stick to the fire roads. Apparently they (rangers) can also fine you for riding in the single track??

I’ve heard something about risk of hot engines creating a bush fire hazard in the tight stuff, thats their so called reason anyway.

Ya Can’t Burn their bikes. .. what did the poor bike do??

i reckon let all the Legit riders take off them what they want.. and fine the owner for littering and the cleanup of what is left :silly:

some Police here have double standards though. (sorry Scotty:blush: but true, and not saying that all members of the force are that way) there is a disused gravel pit on crown land, that now has an impromptu track in it. at times the Police go out there to crack down on unreg/licensed riders. fines etc.

but one officer i was talking to a while back said it’s where they take their unlicensed mates to ride…..

there was a notice in the local rag a couple of years ago, that was to the same affect that in the state forest/parks that if you were found to be riding anywhere but on the formed tracks you would be fined…

    does that include crown land?

as there are some parcels of crown land around here that i’ve thought of seeing if i can form some sort of single track through and sort of linking them together… into some sort of loop if posable..

As far as formed tracks go, many of the formed trails here have grown over years ago and nothing but a single track remains. If there is a trail marked by one of the signs like in the picture below, it is fair game in my book.

Got any of those signs spare Mick. Could do with a few. On a serious note one of my mates neighbours lets us ride in his place for exactly the reason you state. It stops his firetrails from becoming completely overgrown and they can still be found in the event of a fire.

the single track issue is a worry for all. Formed tracks I can put up with for so long, but if there is a single track nearby, i’ll go on that!

All you have to do next time you see some single track is put in another one beside it about 2m away. Now it’s a road, problem solvered.

” Yep, it’s proper ‘fire trail’, it’s just that overgrown”.

sarcastic forestry worker ‘but there are 2 tracks either side of some of those trees…’.

“yeah that’s how bad the forestry has let it get , been a bit slack haven’t ya.”. :P  :pinch: :S

I recon If it cant be ridden on the road legally IE rego, it has no place in the bush,,as for unregoed bikes thats what moto cross tracks and clubs are for…. B)

Formed or non formed roads is BS. 9 out of 10 times you need to do a transport section to get to a single any way..
registerable dirt Bikes this day and age are that good there they are almost equivelent to their moto cross cousins. So there really should be no reason for anyone riding an unregoed bike in the bush. If you cant afford a registerable bike ride on the moto cross tracks.

    Boony,,pre beer on a Friday arvo.:( :( :( :(

The only trouble with Boony’s logic is…….. it is very expensive to ride at a MX track. With licensing, club membership, entry fees and the likes, a day at the track is a bit expensive for your average punter. And there lies our problem….. Young blokes on limited incomes ( we have all been there) that own MX bikes, are faced with all these costs to go for a ride or do they just “hit the bush” and do it 10 times cheaper than a club day. I know where I would have chosen in the same situation.. ;)

Boony you need to aim 3 inches further to the front.
