hmmm more area per capita available for Drinking than Riding…..
so to my way of thinking, those with the powers are more involved in drinking than riding bikes… or doing much in the way of being constructive for that matter…
does that sound about right?

yep it’s plain old absurd, pubs/clubs/sporting associations all having liquor licences some open 24hrs a day, lots of antisocial behaviour, murders, disfigurement, destruction of property, DUI, accidents, mayhem on a mind altering substance, yet we frown upon unrego dirtbike riders, fair dinks where is our heads at????
We spend millions a year on gambling issues, families being terrorised by dunken/drugged thugs, and we are up in arms about kids enjoying a ride in the great outdoors……
I see a bigger picture than the little communities we inhabit, and there is so so much more wrong with the country…
And the fix for this would be self-sufficient, pay for itself.
but yet we would be secular and split our own ranks….
BTW did anyone else see the series a few years back on grumpy old men?

Hahaha you bloody ripper!
Rego = money for the goverment
Alcohol = money for the government. The answer is simple then. We need to buy or rent land to ride on from the government with a high percentage of the entry fee to go to the government too. Hell why not put a huge excise on dirtbikes then theyll love us.
August 7, 2011 at 2:17 am #206466and this is what it is about, look at thier faces, the pure unadulterated joy….
BTW they are unrego too

August 7, 2011 at 3:00 am #206475Give me a system where i can ride legally and safely with my children!
Why can’t i register, licence and insure myself to be responsible for my dependant children? A fairly straight forward concept where i become responsible for the conduct of my children who must ride under my supervision.
In respect of the earlier argument, at what point does holding a licence and a registered bike make you a responsible member of our riding community?
I would like to think that the time you spend riding with your children and teaching them the conduct that this site appreciates would be of a far greater benefit to our chosen sport than registering undisiplined irresponsible fools both young and old and giving them a greenslip!
How good would it be to have old bull father and son ride days where collectively we could show our children the duty of care that we owe each other in the bush, the equipment required to be safe, trail skills and the mechanical skills required to ensure you get home.
Bring on the day that this can be a great weekend out for the family.

August 7, 2011 at 9:44 pm #206012I think some have missed the point of this thread. It is about “unregistered riders”. At present we only have one system. You are either registered or not. I agree its not a perfect system and could be improved but at present this is how it is.
Now it looks as if we will eventually get some form of rec rego. Even if this was extended so children could legally ride in the bush i’m sure most would agree it would still require some form of permit/registration, if only to cover the insurance side of things. I haven’t been involved in racing for a long time, for the parents that have kids that race, how much does a race licence set you back these days and will a club let you race without one?
This would still leave us with a situation were many would not bother with the required permits and registration along with the need for the authorities to crack down on those people, just as they have done this time in the Watagans.
One way or another, whether it be rec rego for MX bikes or permits for children there will still be those who openly disregard the rules.
August 7, 2011 at 10:16 pm #206520the rules suck thats why they disregard the rules its simple as that i reckon and the government want to get a dollar out of everything to so they won t change

Do you really want a free for all in the bush with unregistered, uninsured, unlicensed riders doing as they pleased?
I know of at least one person who whilst out on his bike cleaned up and badly injured a mountain bike rider. Third party insurance saved his arse and most likely his family home.
