I recon if I wound it out I could get 72/73 out of it, as long as theres no speed limit all will be good.

Rocket, I agree our current rules suck but you could make a system where it cost $20 per year and you were covered to ride where ever and what ever you liked, with full insurance and there would still be people who would not pay.

Do you really want a free for all in the bush with unregistered, uninsured, unlicensed riders doing as they pleased?

I know of at least one person who whilst out on his bike cleaned up and badly injured a mountain bike rider. Third party insurance saved his arse and most likely his family home.

Scotty, you are a regulator for the system, as am I to a degree so we get to see the best and worst in people and in systems.
    Ok why insurance?
    think about the answer
Ok if there needs to be insurance at least the opportunity is there for those of us who would utilise the idea for the right reasons.
If I took the attitude about people in the bush and everywhere well how far do we go/

The problem is the baby is being thrown out with the bathwater, and Boony you’re smarter than that comment..

it’s not about egos and whose opinion is right, it’s about access and regaining some grounds and recognition.

Rego and licence does not make you a responsible rider, but it is more likely you may be.
alternatively some of the most dedicated riders and bush risiding people ride unrego round here.

And TB it IS currently like i described previously in many states in the USA, they have OHV accessible areas, and yet they are more heavily populated…. go figure… what happened to good old Aussie spirit?
We became conformist and interbred with MacArthurs flock apparently

I heard that the Police were doing a blizt at Sunny Corner this weekend for unregistered bikes and will be doing it over the next few months.
    Hope they catch a few.

Sunny Corner Blitz was interesting. We camped at Marys and had kids and adults riding all manner of bikes around the nearby pines. Our group came upon 2 jnrs riding and they quickly pulled over to the side and stopped when they saw me. I indicated they stay there until we passed. I turned our group away to the opp. end of the Forest and never saw them again. Rocket and GOCMAN got pulled by the police over for a friendly chat about licenses and rego and were let loose on the Sunny Corner loam again.
The police paid a visit to Marys and put a stop to the kid’s etc riding around. When we got back on dusk the kids bikes were all packed away.
Good to see the police out there really! ;)

Behind the times Rocket old man, Forums and so forth are being monitored by some bodies to gauge reaction to policy, the recent 49000 objections on facebook to a set of regulations being enforced is but one case of the lawmakers running back to their drawing books.
I am lucky enough to be closer to the action than many, but a factor you blokes never think of is the LOCAL politicians where the activities are being carried out are the ones who will push the hardest, what gain is there for a metro based pollie to change bush regs?
and we have a few good ones
