AnonymousYou’re welcome to come along Sat if you’re in the area mate. From what I hear the grade shouldn’t trouble you
You can show me how to ride a 300 2 stroke as well
I might see if I can ditch these Metzeler 6 days tyres before the weekend too.

G’day Moto, appreciate the welcome. I’m surprised TB hasn’t had a dig about KTMs yet
Not sure about showing you how to ride these beasts, if you have questions I should have answers
Dunno about your Metzies, I heard they weren’t too bad. I’ll have to round up a set of tyres for myself as it looks like it’s wet over there. It’s an annoying time of year to buy tyres now we are coming into the dry/hot season. Might swap the Carlsbad back on when it dries up.
Will keep in touch with our plans.October 26, 2009 at 4:33 am #158066axel wrote:

October 26, 2009 at 5:41 am #158068Yes, nothing that’s right. Like any bike really, as long as they are maintained….

AnonymousI’ve just had a run on the dirt with the bike and the tyres aren’t too bad. they areb more grippy than I was game to push to the bike. The red power valve spring makes a big difference to performance. I can’t ride it like I can my 450 though….it will come with saddle time.
TB the tyre would have been swapped and used for one of the other bikes anyway, sorry mate.
The weekend looks like it could be great for a ride, half thinking about woosing out and taking the 4 banger as the smoker seems to run rich (rough) at lower RPM’s off the pipe and it’s annoying.

That’s kinda funny, I’m in a similar position with my bike, except opposite, came off 300, onto 4 banger. Only ridden the Berg a few times in bush and still ride it like a 2T. I guess it is saddle time! I liked the red spring!

AnonymousWe’ll just swap bikes for the ride if we get annoyed then
October 27, 2009 at 4:59 am #158258Feel free to have a spin on mine Moto if you like as a comparison. The jetting seems pretty good (haven’t touched it). New tyres will be on it so it should stay upright on it’s own
.
At this stage Grant and I will still be attending this ride and most likely the next day OBT ride with the young bloke on here (his name escapes me).

Heard good things about you moto, attendance will be expected both days.
I rode 3 days in a row with a murph ride in the middle so it can be done with just 2 .I say 4 so I can ride like a little shit and get away with it, water sports and the like . Was fishing dirt out of my eye yesterday from I can only assume karma for my run of good luck with it.

Go one leaner on the pilot and one higher on the clip. It took me several rides to get the gasser sorted and the way I like it. Also remember the temp at the moment is a bit cooler so if it is a hot day the bike will run even richer.

AnonymousHow are we going to manage the fuel dump Murph? What mileage are we looking at also? I ask as I now have a bike that requires me to f*ck around with premix oil at 60:1. I can bring some extra fuel of my own and leave it at the car but that won’t help much if we aren’t going back to them for a top up
Farking 2 strokes…..
October 27, 2009 at 11:00 pm #157277C’mon Moto, you need a little container of oil with markings on it. Piece of cake. You would be one of very few running 60:1. Most of us run 40/50:1. I’ll show you my container when I see you next.
Murph, there’s only 2 from Dubbo arriving Friday evening to camp somewhere nearby. Grant and Axel as you have already noted.
We have 11 litre tanks, will this be an issue for us? Let us know if we need to leave fuel somewhere etc.
