October 12, 2009 at 10:46 am #155888Some funny captions there Champo.
Well, I’ve got my life back – the slide-show has finally been uploaded. Not with my preferred sound track, but at least the solicitors won’t be knocking at the door.
You’ll notice that it includes some pics that have already been posted. They just look nicer set to music.
It goes for just under 4 minutes, so you may prefer to make a coffee while it is downloading.
All I can say is, after all the work – you buggers had better enjoy it!

AnonymousNice work TW, very well put together, your ride organisational skills and follow up reporting are obviously excellent

AnonymousThanks so much tedubya and wikd. That was one of the most enjoyable rides ever. So much so, racy and I thought about doing it again the next day.
And thanks for letting me ride your bike beamie. Even though it was set up differently to my bike, like I can touch the ground and reach the clutch lever on my bike, I was really impressed and disappointed when my time was up.
The rolling race was so much fun. I tried my best but couldn’t get near rolling ross. Despite me freddy flintstoneing it after I was defeated.
It was great to learn some new trails
I didn’t realise that the last hill we came down before the pines was the one that we spent an hour dragging bikes up a few weeks before on a murphburg ride. It looked so different in the wet. I later recognised the creek at the bottom. If I knew I would not have tried to ride racy’s bike up it. Also sorry to racy. In all the excitement I forgot that she was holding my bike at the top.
KD also showed me some new trails at muirs. Sweet. And it had some whoops too.

No worries Champo
I liked the TM too but if I had one I would like to alter the power band a little, I am so used to having low RPM grunt.October 13, 2009 at 1:49 am #155889Yeh thanks guys, glad you like the slide show. I also do weddings and engagements.
I enjoy trail riding, and enjoy sharing it with responsible riders. For those that couldn’t attend there is always the photos and video.
The slide show took longer than it should have (thanks to Photobucket) – divorce material I’m telling you. If there are any unsigned artists out there -upload some of your work and send me a link thanks, else we’ll be stuck with Champo’s version of Forever Young!
Beemer – I couldn’t help but notice how you marked the way by roosting on the main trail whenever a side track appeared. I tried it a few times behind you, but gave up after the second attempt – just not enough low revs grunt on the DRZ, or maybe it’s lack of technique.
The drop off Bowmans Rd should be given a name. I just came across it one day while out mapping. I’m sure Old Al or Kylie would have no problems coming up with one. On the day it was called ‘The climb that beat Champo’. I’m sure he’s keen to change that.
ps Have sent photos and a link to the ride report to SINGLETON MOTOR CYCLES.

Another tecnique I have used is to leave a donut in the dirt with a burnout mark in the required direction.A bigger header pipe and a JD jetting kit will get the DRZ roosting no worries, but really, a new tyre always seems to throw the dirt more

Anonymousa few weeks ago we were calling that hill ‘murphs hill’ as he was the first to climb it. and he was the only one to push his bike without help.
i reckon i would have got it in a few more attempts. i did get up past the hard bit. my excuse is that i had to slow down to get racy’s low foot pegs between the 2 rocks in the rut and there was some trail bike group parked in the run up. and i forgot that racy was still holding my bike at the top. she reminded me through the bluetooth intercom.
i’m keen to ride up it one day.
one day
it is something to look forward to next time. to kill my nemisis. i will have to after making those excuses
October 14, 2009 at 2:28 am #155890Kylie,
Regarding how that section of the G N Walk got to be named Dakar Hill …
I made some enquiries, and received the following reply from a rider named Zim:
“Not so fond memories of my cousin braking his leg above and below the knee on that hill, and the 3 hours it took to get him down. Not fun”.
That was before they put the boulders there, as it used to be steeper.

Anonymousthere was boulders?
