AnonymousThe problem with riding for me is not being able to sleep the night before. So Saturday night was a crap nights sleep but it was worth it. I picked up Novice (Bob) at around 6.35am, fuelled the bikes at Edgy and headed towards the Watties. Met Moto and Matt at the Church and then moved on up to the Turpentine camping area. There was a few familiar faces and some new ones ready to ride. After going through intro’s and the normal pre ride talk, it was time to ride.
and
Oh what a ride. Enjoyed every bit of it. To everybody, thankyou for the great day.
A top effort by Old Al and Novice (Bob), it was a bit of a hard ride to throw Novice into but I reckon that he handled it very well for someone who has only been riding for 6 months. Sometimes it is better to be thrown in the deep end I reckon.
The highlight of the day for me (there was a lot more than one) but the best one was doing “prick hill”, I have done it once before on a DBW ride and have been looking forward to doing it again. After seeing Moto fly up it I thought stuff it I’m going next. I used pretty much all of the available run up ramp and hit it, 1st gear then up into second , I dont know what speed I hit it at but I had a fair clip happening it was all over in a matter of seconds though. I hit the rock ledge and threw both myself and the bike into the air, it was more good luck than good management but I landed the bike knocked it down into first and kept going. There was no real dramas on “prick hill” nearly everyone getting up first go or with a little push from everyone who was at the top.
The conditions were excellent with no dust and minimal mud (I thought there would of been more mud and water)
Going down Hitchcocks was some good fun with all the rocks and the steps.
The ride moved at a good pace all day with some very, very good riders amongst the crowd. There was a few off’s during the day but nothing that maimed or killed anyone. I started to get bit tired towards the end of the day and the WR must of been too, as there was a few times we layed down to have a little rest. (The can of Mother pre ride may have to be upped to 2)
The video didn’t turn out as good as I had hoped due to having flat batteries for some of the ride and the fogging up of the camera case. I did get some that I will post, only problem is I dont know how to edit yet so they wont be as good as other peoples that you see. I am a bit pissed that I missed all of going down Hitchcocks due to flat batteries:angry:
I am looking forward to Moto’s Ozberg ride, that will be a good one.
So to everyone again thankyou for the day – looking forward to the next one.
