    What a great weekend!
Firstly a big thank you to Mick and TB. The effort that went on behind the scenes to make this happen was huge and it is a credit to you both how smoothly the day went.
To the damaged ones for the logistics on the day, thanks Eags, Corey8 and Kram and to Mike from Muc-off for the support.
I know that many others helped to make this ride the success it was so thank you to everyone. The OBT spirit is alive and well and the way everyone pulls together to offer help on and off the trail is a testament to what a great community this has become.
It was great to catch up with crew I already knew and meet some new faces as well. I remember showing up solo on my first OBT ride knowing nobody yet now it is such a great reunion.
The weekend started for me with Nickj pulling up at my place so that we could drive down together. We had not even travelled 5 k’s when I he called me to let me know he had managed to dodge the milk crate that had flown out the tray of my Hilux. I had forgotten to close the tray and is was lucky I did not cause any carnage.
We arrived at Mick’s shed at 5pm and TB had my new Scorpion MX Extra waiting and he had it on my rim in about the time it took me to put a Bundy in the fridge for him. Cheers mate. We left Mick’s at 6pm and headed out to the farm stay. Jeffro was there, Krusty and the other Owl’s were on form and the Tamworth boys had well and truly gotten the party started. We had a few beers around the fire and waited for the RSL bus to arrive. We loaded the bus and headed into town for dinner. Unfortunately for the poor bus driver Boony jumped in the front seat and I thought we would get bounced before we even got to the front door of the RSL. Surprisingly the bus actually pulled up in front of the RSL and not the police station. We had a great feed and a few beers and a good laugh. Back at the farm stay it was more beers around the fire and then off to bed in anticipation of a great ride to come. It was drizzling rain as we went inside and I was hoping that the day would dawn clear after so many people had traveled so far to ride.
After a reasonable night sleep, considering the snoring, we got up at 6am and were treated to a brilliant breakfast which did a great job of soaking up the evening beers although some looked worse off than others. Meeting time at Timbertown was 8am so we took our time getting ready, relived the night’s stupidity and headed into town. From here the ever smiling Moose led us to the staging point out in the forest. The dirt roads in were super greasy and some of the two wheel drives looked to be struggling but everyone made it but it looked like we were not going to have to worry about dust.
Note* In my experience You Tube clips look better and load faster if you link to You tube rather than watching them in OBT. Simple hold your cursor over the top left hand side of the clip and the title appears. Click here and it takes you straight to that clip in You Tube.
TB and Mick gave the briefing and it was time to do the first sighting lap.

And an incredible amount of variety. It was beautiful terrain and an awesome day was had by all. There was one broken finger but considering the amount of riding that got done it was injury free.
Having the trails bunted and being able to do multiple laps was brilliant. I am always tentative in unfamiliar terrain but this meant that you got to know the tracks and could open it up a bit and my 3rd lap on each track was my best and my last lap of the day was a highlight which was a great way to end it.
Time to pack up and show our Poker hands. I had a full house with three aces and two queens and was feeling pretty confident but was beaten out by Boony who had four aces and a king.
I hit the road and was back in Coffs by 5.30pm and spent the whole trip reliving some great singletrack moments. OBT excelled itself on this one and to all involved, cheers and I look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Well the poker and run ride 2010 started with a touch of drama , but a phone call to TB to ask Mick if wauchope had a RTA and we were set.
The crew were keen to ride the Cathie mystery tour being held by puddles aka (compass).so we headed over early Friday morning to allow us enough time to unload some gear at the farm stay and then head to lake Cathie as we were meeting puds at midday so he show off some of his trails
We arrived in wauchope and met up with Aaron outside Mud and Tar and Damus needed a label holder so we all rocked in and introduced ourselves as Old Bulls, after about ½ hour chat we were off.
Mick and Greg called into the farm stay to say gday then they bolted. We shot off to meet up with moose who escorted the tribe to puddle town.
We had a great ride around some sweet trails and we were also treated to one of the best views I have ever seen. Compass took this opportunity to explore some new trails and covered it up by looking lost,(clever Bugga). Thanks for a GREAT ride Puds it was awesome.
Back to the farm stay via the bottlo and the shenanigans’ began. We got to meet all the fellow Bulls that were staying at the farm stay
Around 7.00 the courteous bus pulls up and off to the RSL we go to meet everyone. We woke to the smell of bacon and eggs the next morning, If you are staying in wauchope I can recommend the Brekken ridge farm stay, it is unreal.
We made the 8.00 meeting place just in time to join the convoy out to the chosen riding grounds.
My day did not look like it was gunna start real well as my bike was on Aarons ute and I was in snow’s ute, Aaron parked at the quarry and we parked at the start point,2011 old bull of the year should be Tiny, thanks for the lift mate.

The trails were sweet and not too difficult but just slippery enough to keep you on the ball. I had an absolute ball and didn’t spew in me helmet (bonus), From what I seen this ride was exceptionally organised as there was even a brand new DRZ parked out in the scrub in case we needed parts, good thinking boys but we didn’t need it, however I did think it would be hilarious to jump on it and belt through the mud hole its owner was standing at taking photos, (imaging the look on his face).
A huge thank you to Muck Off Mick for the sponsorship and a big thank you to all involved in running the day and a big good onya to the Tamworth boys, It was worth the trip hey boys.

So the ride started poorly for me while I got used to the new bike. The bike hadn’t been ridden for a while and the battery was a bit flat. No worries I thought, by the time I have done the first lap she will be all charged up I thought. Problem was I didn’t get more than 2 minutes into the ride when I stalled it on the first hill   . Hit the button, she fired up, released the clutch, stalled it again   idiot rider. Hit the button again, no go  :( . Tried to kick and the kick start is on the left (Why Husaberg, Why), couldn’t get it going so Pepe kindly helped turn it around so I could clutch it down the hill (thanks Pep ;) ).

Down the hill I go, pop the clutch and she fires straight up :) here we go. Turn her around, stall it again  F@#k, S#%t, F#$k. Kick, kick, kick and kick some more    (pear shaped I think I said before). Micknmeld pulls up and gives me a hand to get it going (thanks Mick ;) ) and I stall it again (emoticons can’t do justice to how I was feeling by now). Got it going again and head off up the hill, get to about the same point as the first time and something spears me off the side of the track and straight into a big stump, down I go again and the bike stops again Motherf#%^er. Turn it around, back down the hill to clutch start it, get to the bottom and she hasn’t fired, oh look, some idiot has the kill switch on.

At this point I am seriously considering pushing it back to the car and going home, one last effort and I get it going, get up the hill and by now I have zero confidence in either the bike or myself and am knackered. Eventually I get back to the start point after taking the easy option  and TB says how do you like the new bike? I hate it I said and headed off for another lap.

Second lap things got better (I had taken my earplugs out to better hear the motor as it is very quiet and that helped). Started to get a bit of a feel for it but was still pretty nervous on the hills and riding the clutch probably more than waqs required. Took the hard option this time around and actually thought the hill climb in that was easier then the one before. Got back, hows the new bike they ask, getting better I say ands head for lap number 3.

Lap number 3 I was feeling mor confident on the hills as I had a better feel for when gear changes were required but my fingers were starting to lock up so I took the easy option again  . Really started to get a feel for what the bike was doing in that lap and realise that the suspension was set pretty hard and giving me a good shaking.

Stopped for lunch and a much needed rest for me and backed off the clicker on the rear shock as that was the one that seemed the worst. Headed off to the car to refuel and give it a bit of a run with the new setting and it definately felt better but now the front was the most jarring but good enough for today I thought.

After lunch we headed off on a siting lap and already I could feel the difference in the way it handled, bikes getting better all the time :cheer: . So we complete the siting lap then onto the lap proper, by the first 500meters I was starting to feel good about how I was getting used to the new bike and new with a bit more tweeking of the suspension the bike and I would get on well.

No major incidents for in the last 2 laps, I was actually thinking about throwing in an extra one if time permitted. I was hooking along when I came up behind Jarred who must have had a moment because he ahd passed me half a lap earlier. Thought I would see how I went and tried to stay with him to the end and was going pretty well when half way up asteep rocky hill I passed Glen21?, with his bike on it’s side and he was just sitting in the grass exhausted. Jarred and I stopped and while he was picking up the bike for him Krusty came lumbering up the hill but had to stop as the track was blocked. He went down and had just got going after being stuck on the side of a hill earlier so was exhausted as well. I went to give him a hand and he said “That;s it, I’m done, I aint riding no more.” I helped him pick the bike up and turn it around and we both tried to kick start it XR, no button :( , and we both failed so back down the hill to clutch start it and I walked back up the hill to my bike by which time I was exhausted. Sucked on the camelback, all gone  so I rested for 5 minutes or so then headed back up after Krusty had gone through and finished off the lap with only one minor get off at low (almost stopped) speed went the front end washed out on a tight loose turn. Back to the finish, grab the last card then head to the cars and pack up.

It’s still here Ian, not sure what I am doing with it yet. The Transalp is going and I may make the DRZ my adventure bike or I may sell it as well and get something else. I’m in no rush to decide though.

To the organisers and all the old bulls I met on the weekend thanks for a bloody good weekend. I have not been as sore as that for years. Shame the DRZ is sorer than me because its more expensive to fix. Never thought you could snap a barkbuster!
