Quote:Breckenridge farmstay to see Barry and Shirley (to smooth things over if required) and they were delighted with the OBT crew that stayed there. Thanks guys, for responsibly representing OBT.(Barry said you old bastards were all in bed by 8.30pm anyhow  )Yes the old bastards were in bed by 830, But us younger old bulls (Nick Dude and I)were still charging on till 1130 around the fire. Well worth the extra tiredeess the next day!
Maybe Shirley and Barry were so happy because they hadn’t been into the showers yet!! Bloody water every where, they must have had a water fight!!Thanks to everyone who helped make the weekend bloody fantastic. After that one i would have no hesitation in traveling even further for similar events in the future. Thanks Puddles for taking us on a great ride on our first day. Highlites were the first section of single with beautiful ruts in the corners that meant your front wheel was like it was on rails!! And that power hill climb with an exellent view of a dam that seemed to go on forever.I also got to watch first hand the front wheel swallowing holes that engulfed dahmus and robs front wheels. Thanks goes out to Dahmus because i was just about to go where he did so after seeing him arse up I backed out! Rob did the best sumersault i had seen since the last olimpics! Those Saturday loops were mad and very trying at times. The track marking was great. Why was that guy on that hill with the camera he put me off on the first lap and made me fall off!!! That is my excuse but i doubt i am foolng any one.My only real incident occured after TB accused me of taking the easy route on the second last lap on the first loop. Both mick and TB got in front of me on one of the more open sections. I thought I will show him!!! Just after he let me around there was an erosion bank there and i hit it a little quicker than i would have liked (fourth gear 3/4 throttle)and i nearly doubled the two bumps!! More ass than class. Mick did not take long to come up to me and report that he had witnessed the moment so i knew that they had realised that i was not Robbie Maddison!! At least I now know what the old wr426 could do quite easily in the hands of a good rider, it soaked it up beautifully.
I must have had a great night on friday because i threw a ten dollar note into the fire because i thought it was my temporary membership at the RSL!! It was very fortunate that i had consumed so much anesthetic because it didnt hurt at all when i reached into the fire to retrieve it! I also used that note to pay for my lunch on the saturday loop. So whoever ended up with it sorry but the evil grog made me do it! Hope to ride with you all soon What a Blast!July 5, 2010 at 12:50 pm #183158A dudes view
Reckons The vstrom dude(Toes) who was filming on the hard way hill on loop 1 must have got some unreal carnage footage.
1st time up I got stuck below someone and next time I messed up myself , and then the ‘Tractor horizontal feet dragging Superman hill start is demonstrated in front of the vid camera‘.
Yer good job.
Made it up 3rd time in style how it was suppose to be.
Good hill enjoyed it as all the ride.
Enjoyed the downhills cause the soil was not as slippery as back home as it seemed to be a sandy clingy type of soil ’no wonder the trees grow so tall and straight up there’.
The stand out on 2nd loop was that ‘Carnage hill‘ maybe some other name as it was a narrow road type of track which is fun at pegged in 3rd gear but when I approached it it was littered with the unfortunates soon to be me included
Tractor horizontal feet dragging Superman hill start was the go. 😆
challenges of the day.
Its not like you can go back down against the flow.At lunch I did see Boonys poker hand and he did have 2 aces at the time and with 5 decks of cards being used it was possible to get 5 aces. Well done on your amazing luck Boony but save some for the trails. Well done.
The Breckenridge Farm stay was well above expectations ‘value’ thanks Barry and Shirley. :cheer:
Good to meet new Old bull trail riders and get reacquainted with Old bull trail riders dudes I have met before again.
Thanks to organisers T.B and Mick good job, and everyone else involved in the
‘Muc off Poker Run 2010’ :cheer:Enjoyed the weekend. :cheer: 😆

July 5, 2010 at 1:01 pm #183159My weekend started thursday morning, I had to meet Chris to pick up some stuff and then set sail for Wauchope. I had a quick catch up with a mate and then over to Mick’s shed.
Got the long necks in the fridge and started work on my bike, quick oil change, fitted a front tyre and Mousse (tyre was a 2nd had one Mick had thrown out a Bridgestone works great)
Mick turned up after work and we drank some, fiddled around etc. As the night wears on Mick informs me that his bike is stalling going down hills, I suggest we lift the float level to which he gives the standard its to hard blah blah blah   So I send him up the house to google the float level and we get the carby out. Once out I bend the tab and Mick measures the level we chuck the carby back in, one kick, two, three, four and he starts:laugh: It should have started, we shouldn’t have touched it blah, cry, blah. So we go and have dinner and come back same again, so I drained the carby bowl and check its got fuel, yeah plenty. Mick then drinks the fuel    see here
After that clams down and we find the plug spanner Mick carries doesnt fit his spark plug  I pulled the spark plug out and its dry, that means valve clearances to tight as fuel is at the carby. So I checked no top dead centre no compression. Quick valve adjustment and its starts first kickI look at his air filter and find all the oil in the filter as drained down through the filter and is in the bottom of the air box. (more on this later in another thread) I gave Mick some Motul filter oil and he does a new filter he had up, we fit it and happy days all ready
Next morning we pre ran the tracks and put up all the arrows and bunting and did some riding. The tracks Mick had worked out I thought and still do were a credit to him well done mate
I spent the day following Mick convinced his setup was way out, when I did pass him he accidentally got in the kill zone and Mick copped a tennis ball size rock to the head (well he said it was that big  )
We caught up with the guys at the farm stay, washed the bikes and went back to the shed and then they started rolling in.
I changed my brake pads (mistake that more later) I made Mick get the gear to measure his ride sag and found it was over 120mm  Had to pukl half the bike apart to lift the subframe to get access to the spring preload. Mick started adjusting it and I finished, once done I put it all back together while Mick struggled with the carby boot add a brain spit he had and we got the sag to 105mm
Adjusted the rebound and compression dampening with rider x’s help. We slid the forks through the triple clamp (thanks Jeffro  ) and the shed was done.
More to come later

Jeffro – Chat to Medogrocket about the Berg starting/stalling issues. It may have something to do with the accelerator pump and tuning.

Thanks for doing that job Owl. At this stage we cant find TB’s camera, we are thinking it is locked in his trailer at STM’s place. So we wont see any pics from it until the weekend.
Cheers

The guy I bought it off did say that it was prone to stalling until it had warmed up properly, I had no more stalling troubles after I adjusted the idle half way through the first lap
