Quote:Actually, The pro senior will probably just need a carbyectamy and a new plug.Between all the learned characters that will be at my place this arvo I am sure we will have it flying!!!As a fellow pro-senior mechanic/father,(detuned ’05 (just sold for something more suitable for rec riding) & a bombed to the eyeballs ’06 racebike) i highly recommend the low speed stator windings if all normal checks fail, the heat the clutch pack generates is phenominal and transfers through to all other nearby components, I run 200cc of Dex III + two2cool additive to combat, still have had it happen though. So sold the “soft” bike last month and he got a KX60 for riding with Dad & big Sis’. MA is a heaps more reliable ride, pity they have no suspension or brakes, or clearance.
Have fun with the pro “‘money-pit” senior, I will not be missing ours when he moves onto 65s

October 31, 2008 at 5:09 am #111158Thanks for the imput Bruce, This Pro senior is an 03 and until late hasn’t missed a beat. Starts first kick and idles sweet but started spluttering in mid range Wednesday arvo.
It still idles and starts first kick, just splutters. Here’s hoping it is crap in the carby or a breaking down plug.
Some people have hells own problems with the Seniors and some people just seem to get a good one and this one has done a ton of trouble free hours and owes us nothing really.
I agree the MA is a great little bike and she definatly rides it better as it has a more managable power delivery. Down side she is to tall for it and out riding the bikes intended use, even though she has only just turned 7.
Wont be long and she will be on a KX65 full time anyhow, she is still a little short and not quite strong enough to hold it up.October 31, 2008 at 12:02 pm #111162sorry to sidetrack ,but I agree the pro-seniors are a good thing until they start really wringing their necks, My little bloke is 7&1/2 and he rides quite aggressively (no idea where he gets that from  ) but until he started getting up it all the time it was fine, then as the warmer months and his ability and size grew late last year/early this year, it started having issues, clutches, stator, forks, rear shock (disgusting setup in the first place) and starter engage gear X3.
and we were up in Moss st Brisbane one arvo, he sat on a KX60 with a shortened link and he was able to lift it off the stand and hold it up easy, and that was thst, he wanted one right or wrong so I looked at a few 65s, and while a better bike (but not hugely so), I ended up getting him an ’00 KX60 basically brand new for $1100, and sold Katie for $1750, changeover goes into a new neck brace, keeps Mum happy.
And as he’ll be on the Div2 ’06 all next season that’ll be enogh drain on the wallet anyway, and he’s the 4th generation competitive “scrambles” rider in our family, big Sis didn’t want to, but her heart’s in BMX, and is almost unstoppable when she put her mind to it and the red mist descends.anyway enough of my late night ramble, good to know there’s a few other “motodads” here.
