After spending most of the weekend working on Tripper’s XR, I decided I felt like a ride with the wife and kids yesterday arvo.
It has been some time since Lessa has ridden her bike so some pre ride prep was required as it had a flat tyre and we had a bit of trouble finding her helmet.
Once we got her sorted we headed off , Connor set the pace early and he was on fire and took some catching as he has been riding a lot lately.
Taylah’s competitive nature saw her putting the pressure on him a few times much to her mother’s distress. Although there was some close racing that even I got involved in, there were no crashes. We had to stop near the river for a while as I noticed my front tyre was about to come off the rim, which could have been disasterous!! I ended up getting some help from a dude that was just walking by, as I couldn’t get the tyre back on by myself.
We did some hills that tested me out as my gearing wasn’t as suited to the conditions as the other bikes, There was one particular downhill that also tested me as, I had no brakes at all!!
WE rode for a couple of hours and had a ball, Wauchope is such a nice place to live and ride.
Here are some of our ride pics..

I went back up the hill and noticed a serious lack of power

Ha! Very good Mick :P I was going to ask you when we were up your way for you to go have a burn of the penny farthing so I could see. Going downhill with no brake sitting in the centre of one big wheel looks dogdy as! You wouldn’t want to lean too far forward :P

Nice to see you got some family time in too though :)

imagine trying to respoke the front wheel
youd need an aeronautics degree just to get the buckles out

    One question though,,,,,,

Where is the armour & riding gear ???
With you recent riding efforts, I`m surprised to see ya without the armour on mate:P

That one is my third penny farthing( I wrecked the other two). A mate and I built that one about 15 years ago, I built it to go in the Australian Penny farthing championships in Tasmania and another big race against riders from all over the world in Adelaide.
As far as where you put your Kahunas,……….over my shoulders like everyone else. Can’t you do that Menace??
Stunts??? Mate I was the Aussie Champion in a couple of events, I rode it for a living at a theme park for 5 years!!! One hander Wheelies, slides, stand still on the thing for as long as you like, 180 turns………..jump buses, you name it.

Yeah the Penny hasn’t been ridden for a few weeks so she needed 7 x 375ml bottles of “lubricant” to get her started.;) Dunno who’s idea that was….

    Good stuff Mick.

The D’s are gunna head up the Watties over Easter for a family ride and a BBQ. Kylie takes the oldest on the back of the TTR and the little one sits in front of me on the WR. The best of both worlds spending “quality” time with the family while having a ride.:)
