The forecast wasn’t all that good for trailriding, with temperatures expected to exceed 33C, an earlyish start was the go. WE where to meet at the Wauchope Cemetery at 7am for a 7.30 ride out. When I arrived everyone was busily kitting up and it was looking good for a 7.30 get away.

We had a couple of local boys join us for a ride as they where planning to head in a similar direction, so we ended up with a few extras which gave us a group of 13.

We headed off towards Bago and up one of the easier hills up to the top, then onto some realy tight singles, just to make sure everyone was warmed up.The heat had already started and my brand new anti fog goggles fogged up like a bastard!! Our first regroup was on top of Bago so a few of the visiting crew could take in the view.

Rob couldn’t give a shit about the view and was just keen to ride

From there it was onto what I call big Jurrasic,a rocky down hill that leads to a series of tight singles through the rainforest. It was on the rocky down hill that GWC took a nasty spill and gave his hip a whole lota loving. He soldiered on despite his hip giving some trouble. At the bottom of Jurrasic there is THE LOG. A daunting thing when you first see it knowing that you have to go up and over it. It is a tricky affair as the back side of it drops away lower than the front. Hit it to slow and you will case out and get stuck, hit it too quick and you may eat shit. Like always photos do it no justice.

Bollocks a a log riding pro.

Strucky was probably cursing me at this moment.LOL

    SDC10820.jpg

    He did make it over

    SDC10819.jpg

Itsagas used his trials skills and does it easy

    SDC10823.jpg

GWC had trouble with his hip and was stuggling

    SDC10816.jpg

I had two goes at it

    SDC10817.jpg

    Rob did it easy

    SDC10813.jpg

Kram didn’t make it look pretty

    SDC10812.jpg

Dicky hit it like a pro

    SDC10815.jpg

Tdriver got over it easy enough then stuffed up.

Once every one was over the log,GWC decided that it be best to pull out of the ride as he was still struggling with his hip. He main trailed it back to his car and we were down to 12 riders.

From there we hit some of the Poker run trails, we dropped down into little Jurrasic and headed along greasy trail only to find a huge tree had come down and its head was blocking the trail well and truly. We had to turn around and take a different way towards Comboyne, as I back tracked I picked up corner men as I went, we waited at the end of little Jurassic for a while and it became obvious that there must be a problem further back as we were still waiting on four riders. It turns out the Itsagas had caught his gear lever on something and bent it right around and there s no fixing bent alloy in the bush so he had to retire as well. Down to eleven riders.

At our next regroup, we where missing another two riders and it turns out Harry got a flat and was to hungover to be bothered fixing it so he just rode home on it, China decided he would go with him and we were down to 9 riders. We hit some great trails although some are a bit over grown with lantana and Tdriver found out all obout the scourge of the NSW bush.

We then headed onto Comboyne rock and the view, like always was great. My bloody camera batteries had gone flat, so sorry no pics of the view. We then headed back towards Wauchope Via Elkhorn rock road, which gets better every time I ride it, it would have to be one of my all time favourite trails. A quick lap around Cold and Rock Knobs, saw us heading back down off the range and into the Valley again. The temperature difference was unbelievable and it was getting bloody hot so,I tried to run the crew through as much low lying rain forest as I could find. At the 80km mark Two more riders on two bangers had to pull out due to low fuel. And then there was seven.

A quick run though some Heron’s creek trails and back over Bago saw us back at the Cemetery by 12.30 after doing just on 100km.

WE then retired back to my place for a few beers and a swim. That pool was a welcome relief from the heat, although both Bollocks and Kram thought they were at a resort and wouldn’t get out of the pool and expected me to serve them beers where they sat.

Thanks to all that came out for a run despite the heat. I had fun and that is what it is all about.

    Good read mate.
The BRP is looking the goods with the new pipe on!
Tdriver is no stranger to the lantana whipping, seems every time we go out he comes back leaking a bit of blood.
Didn’t see any shots of Shell. Did she show?
