Headed out to Clarence on Tuesday with Scotty for a bit of cruise and enjoy some weekday riding. As usual didn’t run into anyone on the tracks other than some Adv bikes that came past in the arvo doing the fire trail while we loaded up.
Scotty brought along his 610 and was interesting to see a big Husky getting punted around the tighter stuff they can handle it well. Headed out near the end Black Fellas and worked our way back. Had a pace that was excellent, ride along at a decent pace do a section and then have a rest drink and gas bag about bikes.
I was trying out a new steering damper for the first time and after tweeking the dials found a good set up and liked how its was feeling. I ended up past the single track recommended settings but found these higher settings tops on rocky climbs and found i could loose a bit of the grip on the bars, had chucked on a set of pillow top grips and found them good too.
Did the main single all the back then up a fire trail ive always liked with nice errosion mounds hit something and copped a quick knock to the bars and reckon having still had a high setting on the damper snapped things straight back in line.
For a change i took an old track i haven’t been on in years, the one with SB’s yami ladder bridge which is now broken but still rideable. Interesting all the main trails where dry and thought i would try and remember the best line for some of the bogs that will fill up.
probably forget by next time.
Spent some time trying to do wheelies but probably more time spraying Scotty with rocks, sorry mate.
After a bit of a lay off from riding, had a top day out on the bikes thanks for coming along Scotty. RR’s without out pics  yeah they need em,but have some stuff on the contour so ill get some up asap.
Cheers
May 23, 2013 at 10:45 am #242338Nice read Twobanger. Big bikes go alright in singles it’s just harder work :pinch: glad the damper is working out mate top stuff
Those adv bikes were bikes competing in the APC rally on the route we put together around there. We saw one on Sunday out there.

May 23, 2013 at 11:03 am #242339Yeah the “real” big bores can do it easily, you just have to work for it. The good thing for a bloke with a piddly 7.5L tank is they have a huge range should i run out :S
We saw 4 bikes i think although our parking area was off the road so they didn’t see us, we were talking about Nav rally’s as well after i was asking a few questions about Scotty’s gps. I was thinking i could get some of this modern technology instead of just remembering tracks.
May 23, 2013 at 11:58 am #242340Alway good to get out for a ride. My RMX is out of action at the moment so the 610 is my current single track weapon,
. It does pretty well for a 150kg bike. Believe it or not due to the soft suspension and smooth power it doesn’t wear me out any more than the RMX. Unless I drop it, picking it up takes some effort. The RMX is more fun on the tight singes though. We did about 85km of mostly singles which made for a good day even in the very dry conditions (A bit of rain since then). Weekdays is the best time to ride, you get the trails all to yourself.
I have some footage I will post when I get time.
May 23, 2013 at 12:32 pm #242341Weekdays definitely the best days to ride up there. Never saw a soul on weekdays, weekends though, different story. Dontchya reckon today would have been better? I’m not sure it stopped raining up here!!!
May 23, 2013 at 11:33 pm #242359Thanks for sharing fella’s
Its always good to read reports when stuck at work
Cheers
MurphMay 24, 2013 at 10:47 am #242342Shane and Murph, week day rides are tops love the lack of traffic out there, and it’s the pay off for when your driving to work or coming home from night shift on the weekends and you see a trailers full of bikes heading out or coming home.
Your right Murph i like to check out the ride reports at work it’s a good distraction,i mean only in designated meal breaks
Finally finished editing a clip of Tuesdays ride let me know if its worth the time to edit them to try and make a more interesting clip, get bored with watching some of my clips sometimes, they can look a bit the same.
May 25, 2013 at 2:57 am #242343Bit of a fire trail section on the way back, always like this track for some reason, theres nothing hard about it,but good fun.
You can see my new steering damper absorb a hit, i replayed it at the end. Still not sure if i hit a rock or root was looking ahead and didn’t see anything but i think it did its job. Was running the higher settings i was using on the single track, so that answers one of my questions about finding a universal setting.
May 25, 2013 at 10:16 am #242344Good vids Twobanger. No embarrassing moments which is a bonus, although they do make for good entertainment. I put some of my footage together last night.
May 25, 2013 at 11:21 am #242345Nice work Scotty,
That ending was funny, i’m like i can hear a bike but where is he??? Was a top day out for a ride have been looking through the clips to make another edit.No stuff ups on mine either, some swearing when i stall it once on bit of a climb should put that in one for laughs.
Your cam mount works well, and i was happy with the changes i made to mine had spent a while trying to get it straight and angled right after my last crappy tilted down looking footage.
cheers mate
May 26, 2013 at 7:53 am #242346Had some time for editing last night, for Husky dance mix clip.
