Met up with Galey and Scotty as planned, but the original plan weather wise was out the window. No probs weve all got the day off and the tracks to ourselves so geared up.I like gearing up with Galey cause hes slower than me.
Planned to show Galey a few tracks from the east side, that Scotty and i did on our last run through there seeing as though hes from out of town, came through the woop track and enjoyed a lap full of cold water, nice.
Cruised through some greasy tracks through the pines (to make Galey feel at home) then diverted off my usual plan to miss a bog hole that had a few 4×4’s through that would have been a hassle.
Soon it wasn’t cold and forgot about the wet pants and feet and just had hassles with foggy goggles.Gotta get some safety specs in my kit.
Had a play on a hill climb that was greasy,Galey had a few optional runs done with ease and as i hadn’t filmed any got him to go back and try again,i had another go for fun and try and get used to this bike a bit more.
Explored on a bit more and was changing plans a touch as i was heading out and wanted to look at this side road found something to head back for another day as i felt it headed in the wrong direction,as a consolation prize we scored a new track for the effort that lead us to a good stone slab climb we all got up well, sorry lack of pics there.
forgot my e-tagGot out to my favourate track and had a blast on this flowing s/t suits the 510really well, maybe that’s why i like that track so much. Was good to here galey hadn’t seen that track before. This was soon soured by a husky vs gum tree incident, resulting in Husky 0 tree 1 score. Had to do a bodgy repair, i think Bob will like the look of it.
On the run back scotty pulled up with a jarred knee and was taking it easy on the return run of s/t.Which was going to be hard not to dab a leg or kick start it as it was pretty greasy. At around the 70k mark we hit some fire trail and Scotty split for the cars.
We cruised on getting through the bogs with out much issue,i had some issues with a cross angled branch from the loggers and took a mud sample,Galey later took a sand sample which ive stacked or understeared off that same corner a few times, must be that corner
As i’d already put extra fuel in thought i’d be right as i’d been getting 95k on the singles but was getting excited on the run back and all went dead,at first i thought it just surged away from the pump but wouldn’t fire standing still.Thanx to some premix from Galey i was off again, saving the rings from wear
Back at the cars realized how cold it was once we stopped, had a great day out. Hope the knee has recovered Scotty and thanx for the day fellas.
cheers
June 27, 2012 at 12:50 am #225029Hay good report n pics there Twobanger,,looks pretty cold n wet up there, but like you said once yu warm up on the trails yu forget and just get into it, :cheer: and it dose beet a melt down on a 30degree pluss day eh! Good stuff.
Hay Scotty yu have to watch that RMX,they do like to mame riders:laugh:
Cheers Teza.June 27, 2012 at 1:01 am #225030Nice write up Twobanger.
Highlights = awesome single tracks, sandy corners, bringing an extra 1 litre of fuel which twobanger needed, loamy soil, good mates that can punt along, twobanger giving me the OK to use the GPS, Marys toll track, sandy whoops and trying to catch the big 510 on twobangers sweet ST, rolling into sunny Bathurst.
Lowlights = Scotty pulling up with a tweaked knee, fogged up goggles, rutts and cold fingers, seeing Scotty’s RMX in better condition than my 300.
Thanks for the day lads.
June 27, 2012 at 1:26 am #225031Another good day even with the dodgy weather. Some familiar trails and some new ones (or just ones I have forgotten). We went along the power line trail to one of the hills that has become quite chewed up. I was happy to make it to the top once but Galey and 2Banger decided they needed a few goes at the worst section. Made some good entertainment for me when they both eventually had some problems with the slippery muddy slop.
We made our way to Wolgan Valley Rd down a nice single then back up through Blackfellows Cave. I haven’t done the single back up from Blackfellows in this direction before. This meant climbing a bit of a rock face. I had one failed attempt and made it up second go. We headed through the tight single out the back of here. The conditions made for some interesting moments on the slippery roots and rocks. I was still enjoying the conditions until I was caught by one slippery root which then fired me into the base of the tree it came from. I managed to glance off the base of the tree but needed a dab of the foot to stop myself from going down. Instant pain to my right knee. I stayed upright and pulled up with Galey for a minute and the pain subsided.
I pushed on and after a while thought my knee felt fine and began too up the pace again until I needed another little dab of the foot. The pain was back so I backed off and plugged along to the end of the single. Riding along a wet slippery single track afraid to put your foot down is bloody hard. All of a sudden every little root and rock has the potential to cause pain and it seemed they were never ending. I think we went through an area that was recently logged and there was bloody little wet saplings running at angles across the track every where. At the end of the single I called it quits and headed for the car.
Today the knee is sore and a little swollen but I can walk ok so a few weeks and finger crossed all should be well ready of another ride.
June 27, 2012 at 2:29 am #225032Good news on the medical side Scotty, bloody sapplings
Galey forgot about our GPS altercation& nothing like having a mobile bouser along for mid ride re-fuels,do you take woolies dockets? Ill trade you 1 litre for the co-ordinates.
