I went up to Bendigo to visit family and as you do i took the bike as well. On Saturday i caught up with my brother “Gob” and and his neighbour, for a roost in the Welsford Forest, just out of Bendigo, Victoria. We covered about 70 k’s in a couple of hours on fire trails, s/t, and rocky hill tops.
Not alot to report so i’ve added some pictures.
An old XR 600. This bloke has owned it from new back in 85.
Hard to believe that a couple hundred thousand people live around here.
June 28, 2009 at 9:50 am #141515You forgot to mention we came upon a picnic area with about 20 cars parked there. Up against a tree was the smallest sign sign known to man that said there was a fox cull going on in the area. At the base of the sign there was a pile of about 10 dead foxes. Not sure about you but for the next 10 mins i rode with my head down, butt clenched waiting for a gun shot to fly over my head. Going over the hills at Mt Sugarloaf there is quite a few open mine shafts on the side of the track. After a bit of encouragment i got JAK to attempt to jump one. All he posted was the shot of him going up the ramp.:woohoo:
June 28, 2009 at 10:27 am #141574looks like a phat time had by all…except the foxes:angry:
wish i was there, i would have roosted their cars and then gone hunting for fox hunters….
who the f**k do they think they are.
maybe we need a redneck hunters cull:angry:
let me at ’em:angry:
they might be vermon, but they are still a living animal and dont deserve to die in the hands of some idiot with a gun that couldnt shoot to save his/her life..
after all, it was stupid humans that bought them here!!sorry, all vented out now:(
June 28, 2009 at 10:35 am #141583Well you would have loved the spot we left from. It was about 100 meters from the local gun range, just around the tree is the free range archery club that backs onto the old army depot. A couple of times i have ridden down my favourite trail and they had there flags out. You sh#t yourself when you see they have these large hay bales that they shoot at about 50 meters off the track.
June 28, 2009 at 10:37 am #141584it would be a lot more less painfull way for the foxs to die than get poisened like they do in nsw menace and it is there sport to they may think the same about bike riders .i think we should share the bush and work together to keep our access

Um Soooo i won’t be sending you an invite to duck opening then.
sorry M man. i live in a farming community and there has to be a line drawn some where.
however YES the method and application of any said cull needs to be closely overseen!
