MWell I’m glad I wasn’t the only nutter wanting to ride in wet conditions. The girls came from far afield to enjoy an ‘easy’ ride… well it didn’t turn out like that…
From left April (OldGirl) from Blaxland, Jess (Whiskey) from Northern Beaches, Alyssa (from around the corner), Kat (Artarmon) and Rach (Mount Colah)
We also had an awesome support team – Steve (WRSteve – Sweep), Troy (workmate of Alyssa and Steve also Sweeping), SMick400 (chief navigator and Mr Fix It), Joe (Mick’s workmate & bike picker-up-a)
As we were preparing our bikes and getting dressed OldGirl realised she left her bike key back at Blaxland. Minor problem but not for SMick400 who within a couple of minutes had the headlight off and located the switch and with a little tweak had the Chinese bike ringing like it should. After that we had to cable tied the speedo to the bar.
No major drama’s and lots of laughing could be heard across the parking lot…. Even when Jess couldn’t locate her truck keys and had us all helping out in the search.
The off we went at 10am
Well after riding down the road for a 1km and turning right into the dirt the OMG feeling hit all of us. Mick was seen slipping and sliding in the mud and riding into deep water holes. It didn’t deter the girls and they tackled it without a blink of an eye
OldGirl testing the water’s
It was a little bit wet
Joe making a splash:
OldGirl had a stack going up a slippery hill and went down hard on her knee and was in pain but to her credit got back on and continued until she went down again and it disintegrated her bike. The handlebars were twisted beyond use and the electrics died.
Steve tried to fix it but it ended up being stashed in the bush for a search/rescue on another day.
Mick ended up doubling OldGirl up to the lookout. Jess at the lookout with Joe
We decided to head back to the cars as OldGirl’s knee was becoming a problem and Jess had a stack that hurt her hip. We ended up with OldGirl riding Jess’s bike back and Jess trying her skills at pillioning. Mick did his best to get the girl’s back as quickly and safely as possible. OldGirl was in a bit of pain… we got back to the cars at 12.00 with only about 15km travelled in 2hrs.
Taking a breather…
OldGirl’s swollen knee. … ouch
OldGirl had a double whammy:
– damaged her medial Collateral Ligament (confirmed by her husband who happens to be an Emergency Dr)
– the bike it somewhere out in the bush waiting for collection.Jess – hurt her hip and had a swim in water hole that nearly drowned the bike.
We got a text later in the day to hear that both girls got home and regardless of their injuries had a ball and can’t wait to get back out there again.
Part 2 from 12:00 to 5pm
Once OldGirl and Whiskey were sorted we decided to head back out there for some more riding, swimming and laughing…. Part 2 to come.February 4, 2013 at 6:54 pm #236322Nothing like a run in a wet bush. 😆
I probably could have worded that better.
Looking forward to part 2.

February 5, 2013 at 1:46 am #236344That bike looks good. I’m definately in the market for a new (well new second hand) bike now.
My knee is getting better super quick . Seems the ligament is only bruised (thank god) and I should be back into it in 3wks according to my physio. Until then I’ll have to coordinate my clothes with the lovely yellow and purple colors my knee has turned lol.
I’m spewing that I couldn’t keep going all day I had an absolute ball.
Big thank you to Kat for organising it all , to Mick for doubling me and to WR for not laughing too hard when I fell off into that bull ants nest
.

Ollie
Hi oldgirl,
I had the 05 version of that bike and it was very reliable and cheap to run. I sold it 4 years after I bought it for almost the same money so this one looks like a very good deal! Mine had a lot more that 5000 ks on it so there is plenty of life left in that one.Ollie is right, real men don’t ride 250f. Real men sit at the bottom of the Widow Maker on their tricked out 2 strokes sobbing in fear

Special mention to the awesome fella’s for helping out, you guys are legends!
Take care of that knee Oldgirl, hope to see you with some new wheels ASAP
