Great start to the ride report kat :)
    I am enjoying reliving it.

    Wow, what a day :silly:
From when we left home to ride to meet spot,
I could see from the conditions, it was going to be an interesting, wet day!!

Keys seemed to be the issue of the morning, but thanks to
micks amazing talents, all the girls were able to start the ride :cheer:

Lots of oops, oh my, woo hoo, oh gosh moments had by all :silly: :silly:

Such a shame oldgirl (not old at all !!) Had to abandon her bike, ride cut short, plus a sore knee ( hope it heels soon )
On the plus side, you may get a new bike :)

Great to meet joe, and whiskey, too.

I had a ball, and thanks again kat and mick for such a top day, i am still smiling

Thanks Kat and Mick for organizing a fun day and nicely done pressing ahead despite the crap weather. There were some great tracks on offer.

    So some moments:

    – those woops full of water ….. About 20 in a row how good were they?!?!?! :woohoo: :woohoo:

    – Turning off the tar and those first 100metres the bike was all over the place I was thinking whoaaa she’s slippery alright, I actually think that first bit was the most slippery part

    – old girl after busting her knee still jumping off quick as in the mud to help the next person pick up their bike even though she was sliding all over the place can’t have felt good on the knee! (seriously you are going to have to change your name oldgirl just isnt right!)

    – Mick fixing/hot wiring bikes …. It’s like riding with MacGyver I reckon you could fix a bike with a teaspoon in the middle of nowhere B)

    – Whiskey your a champ for offering to be pillioned – can’t be very comfy in that terrain

    – Alyssa you are the most prepared person I have ever met! I am sticking close to you :)

    – Steve your a sport letting me work on my roosting target practice …. But to be fair I did let you ride my bike and then you were all how awesome are KTM’s??? (it’s my story so I’ll tell it how I like :P )

    – that bad moment when I realize I haven’t hit the deck yet then sure enough 5 min later I am trying to wash my bike in puddle  … Thanks Mick and Steve for the CPR you did on my bike!

Of course at the pub that night after a few fine wines the puddles got deeper and rocks got bigger ….. But it really was slippery …. Just quietly i am pretty sure i saw just about everyone drop their bikes at least once  …

Was great to meet some new faces and catch up with some old ones, thanks again Kat and Mick for organsing a top day.

I wish I could have been there for the rest of the day. Was great to finally meet some women as crazy as me. Oh and I think the name OldGirl suits me (everyone like a bit of irony lol).
I lOVED those whoomps too that was soooo much fun. Although I want to be able to do rides like Murph the Surf went on THAT looks like fun.

So SMick400 led Rach, Alyssa, WRSteve, Troy and myself back into the bush with the plan to head to BellBird Pub for lunch. Rach decided to do a sliding turn on the first tar corner after the pub… very impressive.

Steve suggested we head to higher ground to get away from the creeks. Kat on some red slippery
    clay.

    WRSteve blasting up a hill
    P1070503_zps8fc44ca2.jpg

    Followed by Troy…
    P1070504_zps2f8d4a5f.jpg

    Then Rach
    P1070505_zps3861de52.jpg

It worked best to hang back and watch the others go through to work out the best lines… Alyssa lead the way
    P1070508_zps75c7d539.jpg

But on this occasion Alyssa decided to get really wet!! Steve came to the rescue and dragged the bike out of the water
    P1070511_zps7d84cb73.jpg

    photo9_zps842db64a.jpg

Rach found some not so wet lines…
    P1070512_zps9dc11e08.jpg

We got to BellBird pub at 1pm and had time to dry out and enjoy lunch/drink. Then back out there again at about 2pm…

We had a little stop for a bit cause Rach enjoyed a splash in the creek …
    P1070518_zps60036541.jpg

Then after lots of button pushing and kick starting the KKKKKKKKKKTM wouldn’t start. So SMick400 and WRSteve stripped her, found out the joys of trying to spark her but had no luck…. The bike wouldn’t start…. Rach on the other hand was yaking away holding the nuts and watching…. With Alyssa
    P1070517_zps0bd34e12.jpg
    P1070521_zps27e97b8b.jpg

So out came the strap to tie her up to drag her out… the things you do to get a KKKKKTM to go. It was impressive to see the guys attempt to tow not only in tight single track, rutted sections but with such wet conditions – legends…. A clutch start on a fire trail did the trick.
    P1070525_zps54d1b15c.jpg
    P1070528_zps73bde418.jpg

SMick400 didn’t have allot of options on what tracks to take…. It was more like what rivers to take
    photo14_zps09e8a513.jpg
    photo13_zps9142b991.jpg

Even our sweep got busted taking a swim

    photo3_zps0c27f20d.jpg

So by 4pm it was time for Alyssa, WRSteve and Troy to peel off and start heading home to clean up and head back for dinner at Cessnock. We found them one last water crossing to try out and we watched with great enthusiasm to see what bow wave they could muster.
    Troy went first
    P1070529_zps9fcfed71.jpg

    And he made a splash
    P1070530_zps96cb54aa.jpg

Alyssa went through next we had our fingers crossed that she would get across safely
    P1070531_zps01e3a082.jpg

WRSteve then made his bike kick up some mud for good measures
    P1070532_zps6a6e30b4.jpg
    P1070533_zpscc2a25e3.jpg

So after they left SMick400 asked Rach and I a dumb question…… do you want to ride some more…..took Rach and I nanoseconds to say YEHHHHHH
    So off for more fun
    P1070534_zpsb19e46a0.jpg
    P1070535_zps3a69c01c.jpg

    P1070537_zpseeaccf93.jpg
    P1070536_zps6069358c.jpg

We stopped in at the old Coal mine for a photo opportunity
    P1070537_zpseeaccf93.jpg

Rach had a good go at tackling this slippery hill
    P1070538_zps026d0957.jpg

As part of Rach’s initiation into OldBulls chic’s team we gave her the job to test the water (depth, ruts and logs)
    P1070545_zps26b635fb.jpg

So the section on the side didn’t look good so we asked her to check the middle of the creek which resulted in moving a tree branch…
    P1070547_zps82fbee2d.jpg

But Rach had one more job… to walk down the middle with legs apart to determine if ruts existed… what a top chic….
    P1070548_zps00b22b57.jpg

It was 5pm and time to head back to the pub for a hot shower… so on our way home we came across more water holes…
    P1070550_zpscf856b2a.jpg

It just so happen to be my turn to drop my bike in the water…but like a true Honda it fired up first time…..
    P1070551_zpse6007a17.jpg

But then…… she was coughing all the way back to the pub… seems like some dirt got in the carbie..but she still got me home..
    P1070552_zpsb55453d6.jpg

We got back to the pub at 5.30pm and hit the hot showers. Alyssa and Steve arrived at 6.30 and the drinks flowed and dinner was amazing. After many more drinks we wobbled into bed by 12 ish and I don’t remember hitting the pillow.

Sunday’s ride was called off so we got up early, had some breakfast, loaded the bikes on the trailer and headed home to clean up the mess…(made easy by the gurnie).

Top weekend…. with top OldBull’s …… thanks to everyone who came along to make it another memorial ride/swim. :P

Wow, what an amazing day that looks like and an amazing (and brave) bunch of Chicks to tackle the mud, not to mention the ever helpful support team.

May there be more development rides for new OBT riders and displaying the Girl Power that was evident last weekend…Go team girls, go OBT!! :woohoo:

What a great ride…it’s an absolute pleasure to go riding with an enthusiastic group that are out there just for the sheer fun of it…without the underlying competition that a ride with “the boys” can sometimes bring…don’t get me wrong, I love the play racing, piss taking and showing off and all (that’s half the fun of dirt bike riding), but I still get a real kick out of introducing newer riders to the pleasures of the bush…watching them gain confidence with every hill conquered…but with the conditions we got on this ride, I was beginning to doubt all our sanity.
Thanks, everyone for a top ride (especially our support crew of sweeps/mechanics/pickHERupers…Steve, Troy and Joe)…Cheers.

Great report Kat, keep them coming, come where is part 2 :P

I have to go to Cessnock this saturday morning, I can take my bike trailer up and know the area (lived there for 3 years) I also will be returning to Blaxland where I live as does Old Girl if she would like her bike recovered and bought home?

    TB

Good luck tomorrow with the bike retrieval …….. hopefully it has dried out a bit over the last couple of days.

Epic ride report Kat and props to all those who braved the weather to make such a great day out.
Brilliant photos and such great narrative that lifts the bar for OBT ride reports.

    Nice one girls!!!

Made an attempt last thing yesterday on my own. It’s dry the ruts are massive  I couldn’t find it even with Smick Mick helping on the phone and the coordinates thought to be the spot gave up as it got dark. The plan was for me to meet Smick and Kat this morning at Kitchener pub but I was early yesterday and thought I maybe able to find it. Fail!
Will meet them there in 45 mins and no doubt we will get it this time as Mick was the one that hid it ;)
