Just sold the young blokes LT50 and now need to upgrade to a 2 wheeler. But which one. It wont be used for racing. I like the PW50 but a local shop has CRF50’s going for $1100 ride away.

Who’s got any thoughts or for that matter a bike they want to get rid of.

Go the CRF it will be a better bike for longer with gears and better suspension IMO

Started my young bloke on a PW50 many years ago, good bike but didn’t last long as I had to upgrade him to a bike with gears after about 9 months. I’d go with the one with gears

Should add we started Kieran on a pee wee and he out rode the bike in three outings. The CRF has a three speed semi auto clutch. Throw it in 2nd while he learns riding first then he can learn the gears

Oh yeah the most important part, it’s a Honda power of dreams ;)

We have a CRF50. Second son is now about to out grow it and the third one is nearly ready to start learning on it. Great little bike for kids to learn on, some kids will outgrow them faster than others though.
The peewee has more aggressive power if there is such a thing in a 50cc bike lol. A million kids have learnt to ride on them as well.
The only bit I don’t like on the CRF is the stupid air filter which is nearly impossible to get of and on.
The CRF does 60 kmh too which is handy here when we go down the road on our farm. bit scary too though lol.
Perhaps I should ride the CRF50 in the scrapheap challenge :woohoo:

Thanks all. I think I’ll go the CRF. Spoke to the bloke in the shop and he said exactly what TB said, stick it in second till he gets the hang of it.

Sized the young bloke up for an 80 Aido, but its a bit big. He’s got the same problem as you. Duck legs, but my blokes only five. :P

I know it is late but I concur with TB, a CRF 50 or a Yamaha TTR50 are what I would recommend. My brother has 2 TTR50s and they are sweet little bikes.

I will also agree with Jimmy about the CRF, that the air filter is a right pain in the arse, same goes for the 70cc version too.

Ordered his bike and picked it up last week. The shop had six on the floor when i ordered it but they were all sold so had to wait five days for a new shipment to come in which wasnt an issue but makes you wonder how many are out there.
