As the name sugests, what a day at Paddy’s.

All up 10 riders took part which swelled to 14 at one stage stuffing our corner man system right up. But more about that later.

In fact the report will have to wait as I’m buggered and off to bed. Also got to wade through 1100 photos. Bloody GoPro was set to take a camera shot every 3 seconds instead of video. Oh well. :( :(

Just hope everyone had as much fun as me. :) :)

What a big day. Riders included JAK, Adrian, Tim, Menace, Choppa, Billt, Tdriver, Stevie Wonder, Straka and his son Shaun. We drove in convoy to Paddys Swamp but unfortunately someone had forgotten to fill their car with LPG and so they found their car chugging to a stop about 4 k’s from the unload area and about 10 k’s from the nearest town. But we will keep that between ourselves wont we Tdriver. He unloaded his bike, geared up and rode it the remainder of the way.

The rest of us unloaded our bikes before a pre ride talk was had. The corner man system was to be used and was explained to those who have never used it. With most blokes only meeting for the first time it was agreed this would be safest. So off we go for a ride on the warm up loop with me leading right up till the stage when we came to the first hill which saw me catching my foot on the side of a rut spearing me upwards and sideways to find myself kissing the dirt. Thanks to for all those that stoped and offered assistance. I’m only sorry i didn’t get your names. I got no names because no one bloody stopped. This hill was also to claim others though.

For the first ten minutes the corner man worked well, probly because there were no turn offs. At the first sign of people having to man a corner things went to shit. I pulled over to regroup and it took a while for three different groups of riders for all directions to turn up. The corner man system was again enforced before some decided it was time to blame each other and state they were in the right. Anyway a bridge was built and over it they went.
After the warm up loop it was time to hit the more technical tracks. On the first hill climb, which can only be tackled from a standing start right at the foot of it, was to claim a few more victims. I was at the bottom trying to tell people that there was an easier way up when the youngest rider, Shaun, roared past and had a crack on his xr250. Got about 10 metres and then off he goes. Not a good place to have to try and kick start the bike. But to his credit after about 10 minutes of kicking, stalling and kicking again he made it to the top.

Then it was down the other side of the hill and even this was to claim a few victims.

We then hit the tighter single trails and this is where our corner man system really came unstuck but not through our doing. I came to a t intersection and pointed to it to the rider behind and off i went but i could still hear him behind me. No real harm done thinks me, I’ll give this bloke a rev up when we stop and the others will see our tracks in the virgin soil. I get to the end of the track and stop, hop of the bike and look at this bloke behind me. Geez i don’t recognise you. Turns out just prior to us getting on the single track another group of four had merged in. So sitting there with the bikes off i can hear engines from three different directions. After introductions with our new arrivals they decided to tack on with us so our group become 14. Another couple of s/t loop found us back at the cars for some lunch. The choice being sausages burnt, blackened or raw with under cooked onion. Just joking (i think)
After a bit of bench racing we said our good byes to “Half Day Stevie Wonder” who thought it would be cooler hanging out with his girlfriend than his riding buddies. The four ring ins also packed their bikes away and left.
Things got a bit harder after lunch with all bikes having to be helped across a creek and up a nasty rut. Choppa complained the whole time, but the way i look at it he got to enjoy his lunch three times as it kept coming up. A few more knarly rutted valleys saw us come to a clearing were smoko was called.

Idiot me hoped of me bike only to see some absolute goose put their back wheel in a mud bath and start roosting me bike.

    Paybacks are a bitch.

At this point we said our farewell to Tdriver and his mates as they had to recover his ute and get home for a prior engagement. The rest of us done some more s/t riding before the general consensus was we were buggered. So back to the cars we went loaded up, bench raced a bit and then headed for home.

An absolute pleasure to meet the other new Old Bulls, and i hope to have the privlage of riding with you again one day.

    What a bloody great day.
