Thanks to all who have left comments on their armour.
Boony I cannot wait to see you performing nak naks and backflips with your armour at KTM Bulls place. Then again, DRZs are a bit agricultural so I guess it will not look out of place on you.
MR Blue,
Troy Lee design I never thought of them. Where did you get yours and how much did you pay for it.
Thanks mate

Quote:I would like some advice as to which body armour to purchase.I do like the alpinestars bionic and the 661 pro body pressure suits. Both are simmilarly priced but I am unsure which to choose. I have tried both on for fit and comfort and I still am unsure which one to purchase.
Or are there other body armour manufactures that I should also be considering.
Any comments and views would be appreciated.
Thanks

Glenn,
Hi Bud,
The only way to go if you want serious spinal protection is the top of the line Dianese, I think its called the “Wave” this is the only back protector out there with a aluminum honeycombed crush zone section, and I can talk of personal experience, I hit a tree and broke vertebrae as well as rupturing disks, I will show you the crushed aluminum section that came out of the broken back protector and it is the sole reason I still walk and ride today, They are expensive , for sure, but what price is your spine worth, save longer and get what you pay for,
Good Luck
May 14, 2009 at 4:24 am #134127Hey Blue450,
KTMrat is right the Dianese is the best gear fullstop, but I went for Troy Lee although a bit more than the “middle of the road” has slightly better build quality and fitment, than them. I bought mine online from the states, after trying one at a MTB shop down south, I paid US$180 when the exchange dollar was a bit better.BC
May 15, 2009 at 7:39 am #134143i walked into the local susuki dealer, just for a laugh and compare the DRZs to a john deere tractor.
they had a special $99 rack and i found this
and it fitted my big bones self perfectly!
i especially like the removable collar bone guards.
i havent ridden with it yet but it was a bargain compared to the alpine stars one i was gonna buy…
happy days:)
May 15, 2009 at 7:41 am #134389whats the comparison of a drz and a john deere
I went and priced (gulp) the new KTM 300 smoker with the magic button today.

May 15, 2009 at 7:51 am #134398and it too would beat hondas up hills.
I think I might put kwaka mud guards and a green seat on the DRZ to turn it into a John deere

May 15, 2009 at 8:17 am #133685Looks like a good deal menace. What brand is that?
You need to regrout your tiles mate
May 15, 2009 at 8:18 am #134416serious, But I cant justify the 13.5 they want for it I need a dual purpose and they offered a shit trade on the DRZ of which I bought from them last sept. Always like the 300s since I seen 1 at cells in april on a 4 day ride just doont advertise it.
May 15, 2009 at 8:26 am #134420santa, got mine for 12600 on road with barkys, bashplate and MAP switch.
dual sport, have a look at the 450exc-e and put a bigger tank on it. go anywhere and mega poke. youd be suprised……
May 15, 2009 at 8:29 am #134423yeh, but bang for buck the DRZs hard to go past and Its got all the grunt I need for around here. maybe upgrade later when the ability improves if that will ever happen. I ride with a rent a friend that has a KTM 250 exc and he has nothing but issues with it ande that turns me of them a bit.
May 15, 2009 at 8:35 am #134424DRZ, too oldschool mate, you may as well be on a TT350. what about a klx450, or a wr even?.
better handling and more poke than a drz. and magic button….May 15, 2009 at 8:37 am #134426menace wrote:
