Changed the jetting last night to try and save some fuel and gain more low down power. Test ride today in tight singles.

Nice and crisp with heaps of power (maybe to much) comes onto the pipe a bit to strong for the tight nasty stuff.

Still uses a shit load of fuel. 48km and about 0.5L off reserve. :( Might drop the main jet down a couple of sizes.

    Is that the Gaser Mal?
Maybe the throttle control needs backing off? :woohoo:
Maybe not all your fuel is going thru the motor, have you looked at float heights, might be losing fuel out the bowl vent lines, just a thought, the fuel use sounds excessive ….

Yeah mate it’s the Gasser. From what I read they use a fair bit of fuel. The float level is fine. Tip the bike just past 45 deg and fuel runs out, which is correct from other forums.

Throttle control? What’s that? It’s a 300 2t, I didn’t buy it to be a super smooth rider. :woohoo:

I just carry a couple of litres of fuel when doing longer rides.

A kiddie we ride with occasionally has a Gasser (2011 300) and his drinks the fuel too. He’s rins pretty rich, I’ve offered to adjust it for him but he keeps rocking up late for rides and I keep telling him ‘next time’ :P

Gotta love the 570 consumption, 100+Km in any terrain before the fuel light comes on, don’t know how long it has when that happens though. Only an 8.5 litre tank too.

It helps that I ride it like a fag though :D

The only thing I did to mine today was to ride it, I have been working on some new singles and linking some old ones that have only become accessible recently after probably 20 years due to some recent civil works. It is only a small area probably less than 2 square kilometers but just enough for the occasional quick 1 or 2 hour blast. I have spent probably 5 or 6 hours clearing the way.
It is not a designated NP or SF, just crown land and the vast majority of what I had to clear was lantana anyway.

i took the boys to singleton mx track today and tested my bike with the pro moto treatment to the forks, now all jokes aside i have struggled to ride mx but as i started out on my run everyone teared off and waiting for the normal getting roosted by everyone even the sheepish kid with the pimples on the 125, but today i found myself in the middle of them and after 4 or 5 laps still in the same position with them getting tired and me just being consisten t ( not fast just consistent) started getting a fe w scalps i cant believe suspension can make such a difference where ever i put it it went, thanks to Ian at pro moto

  Pity Mr Fonda didnt put a decent size front rotor on their wheels.
Might have to get Technis to have a look at the valving at some time as well.

Or what about if misses gasser built a half decent shitter you wouldnt have to worry about what Honda does and fit a Honda front end or clutch or whatever else you have fitted     ;)

Seriously I would say the Honda front rotor pulls up the normal 5 fingered 75 kilo 250 pilot it was designed for wouldnt you if you think about it

Only put a CR clutch in because it was a third the price, also as the slider on the marzocchi had some corrossion I went the crf again price and availability, yet to see if its a better mouse trap ;) I guess when things are mass produced they have to be cheaper and more readily available wouldnt say they are necessarily better B)

as you would know The XR650 also comes with a 240mm disk and spongy brake line, not a bike riden by a 70 Kg 250 rider

Oh and I havnt got 5 Fingers (not on the right hand anyway )

Regarding the throttle cable Ollie we us CR ones on our EXCs as they are a bit longer. This might be an option for you – more FHonda I guess.
