You shouldn’t let your bike fall off the stand when you are warming it up

I let the air out of my forks, lubed the chain and its ready for a Thursday arvo session.

Thanks for reminding me Matt, and pointing out my stupidity to everyone else. :silly:

April 30, 2013 at 10:34 am #227480Just headed down to the garage to change my front brakes pads …. this was the first time … not that confident on the tools so had done a bit of research was all set ready to go … then noticed my fork seal is leaking DANG IT!!
April 30, 2013 at 8:23 pm #240673After my little come off up in Werrikimbe, I had a bent brake pedal on the XR. Thanks to the brake snake it wasn’t bent too badly but bent none the less.
I had visions of using a heat gun to warm up the cast alloy a little and bend it back into shape but took TB’s advice instead and did a cold bend on it and it worked a treat.
I then made a new brake snake, this time using wire trace instead of 200lb Jinkai marlin trace.

May 2, 2013 at 7:47 am #227481hi micknmeld just a quick question about the brakesnake wouldnt it be better to use the marlin [nilon ?] trace compared to wire trace as it gives abit more ,if the snake is to ridgeid wouldnt it put alot of stress on your bash plate [ bolts ]

Nice work mate!
Do want to sell a pair of those and do you think you could get away with 15mm?STM
May 2, 2013 at 8:41 am #240902Hey STM
Yep could sell a set no worries. They would come with pins and spacers also.
I will give them a good test on Saturday on some tree stumps and rocks first.
I think 15mm would fit ok.Lets see you them work first.
Thrillseeker.

I reckon she’ll be right Wolfie, those Whipps bash plates for the XR650 are pretty tough. I think the brake pedal will flatten before it will pull the bash plate bolts. That bash plate has taken some serious knocks in the past.
