Actually did this yesterday evening but it fits here anyway

Re packed the Barrett exhaust on the 690, it was well overdue. Kind of funny how it is something that sneaks up on you and all of a sudden you think “Damn this thing is getting a bit louder than normal, `cause my hearing sure isn`t improving” :P

Remove it , disassemble and the packing is all black, sooty, burnt to a crisp and flakes apart  :S

Quick trip to my local small bike business to grab some packing and steel wool as well, clean out, re wrap then realise “Damn !! I need just a bit more `cause the pipe is rather large and oval in diameter”
Race back for some more packing and then she`s all good ;)
Only took 2 hours to do the whole job, even with two 10klm return trips to the shop,,,,

Pretty quick and easy job really for the shed novice, I recommend anone to give it a go and who knows, you might pick up a little more oomph that you hadn`t even noticed was gone B)

Not to mention, a happier missus at 4.30am in the morning when you ride out to work (`cause the bike is quieter, NOT that I am gone)

Yo Eagle, I just repacked my exhaust too, easy peasy japanesy, just a bit of a dirty job.

New grips, new gear lever, new chain link clip, straightened out bent radiator from a crash into a tree, I’ll get one more race out of the sucker before the rebuild!

Took the front wheel of the tenere as I have just bought a few tools to take on trips with me,so I thought I would have a bit of a trial run with it all.

Wish I had left it alone though, because now I cant get the brake pads to open up as I squeezed the brake lever several times till the gap closed :pinch: ::angry: :

Not knowing what I have done or how to fix it could somebody please point this simple in the right direction
    Thanks James

 put a screw driver between the pads James and lever them apart. Do both at the same time. If you get stuck leave it I will be in dural on Saturday and will give you a hand if you want. It’s easier to refit the wheel if you take the calipers of. Easier to open the pads up if you bolt them back on the forks while levering them apart.

Ring me you have my number

    Thanks TB,
Shall give it a try, with my limited mechanical skills I am proving to be a danger to myself 😆

Keep picturing the wheels coming off full flight

    Haven’t checked mine wolfie
I had some issues with the fan not working on a gnarly hill climb last ride.
Will check the fuse tomorrow, hoping its just that.
I did have a faulty thermo sensor when I first bought the bike and KTM changed it for one that cuts in at a lower temp. All was good until last weekend.
    Cheers

I did’nt dont have time working 60hr weeks, I paid bikes and bits to service- fix indicators – clutch lever – clean carby – which found a blocked main jet ( explained the coughing) got new bark buster mounts for the over size pro taper bars I have and so on … It’s all ready to go again might be able to keep up with a few of em now and get up the hills. I will the putting a MX LOCK AND LOAD in the trailer tomorrow. Should save me strapping it down ( I know I’m lazy)

I will take credit for putting a gytr insert into the exhaust got rid of the standard pea shooter that’s really gay looking it seems to have given me a power increase and a little more noise but not too much

You could have took the cred for that we’d never have known ;)
That mx lock and load sounds interesting, I hate strapping down my bike after getting back from a ride.

Mx lock n load looks pretty good, and you can get rid of it and still use the box trailer.
Make for interesting times when you try and ride up the ramp and skid on the wet tire into the head board trick.
