Old rubber removed front & back, check inside of the rims and maybe add some tape, cleaned up & checked over sprockets, checked bearings, remove chain guides and cleanup swingarm etc next.
New rubber and chain to fit during the weekDamn, the Supersprox sprocket sets are long wearing too , looks like they will last 2 chains at least :woohoo:
Some old mate got into the shop the day before me and got the Pirelli rear I needed :pinch: Bugger :laugh:

might even add in a few brewskis later on for mental calmness. Charlie will be great for bring in the fresh ones. !!!

How long before he is leaving you for dead on his bike like Murph`s youngun Tim ????I just rememberd to remove the fork protectors and clean/polish up the lower legs. Gotta look after those things as mentioned on here before, fork seals will love ya for it
June 8, 2013 at 5:36 am #243260Just got back from an unexpected ride through St Albans out to Bucketty and back, had thought I was on kid minding duty today so a real bonus.No encounters with the boys in blue either, being double demerits and all so I am well pleased 😆

June 8, 2013 at 9:07 am #243263Another Adventure X project bike, so today I started the conversion on a XT660X to a XT660R and then some :woohoo: I built and laced new wheels (still have the motard set) Fitted new 23 L tank from Brazil a gilimoto tank. Fitted a Metal Mule bash plate, new tyres and tubes
Started like this (forgot to get a picture at the start :pinch: ) Twin pipes and under the bike exhaust
Custom hand built Barrett system (very sexy) no more low boy exhaust
Barrett Muffler
Bash plate
Tank, swapped out fuel pump and checked valve clearances while it was being swapped
New rear wheel, was supplied new hub, new spokes and new rim. New chains and sprockets
Same for the front
Waiting on a screen, fat bars, risers, bark busters, rear rack, custom Barrett luggage racks, pivot pegz and then of to Tekniks for Nicks magic wand to be waved over it
Looked at mine :laugh:

Some goose told me to take the side plate off to change the oil (to save taking the bash plate off) but didn’t tell me to NOT put it on the stand to do this bc if you do the oil flows out like a waterfall and ends up everywhere BUT in the oil tray!!!
Ended up yelling at 10 plus kids (our place is the go to house in the neighbourhood) to walk AROUND the huge puddle of oil, NO don’t touch it, no mummy can’t get that right now she’s a bit busy bc she has over filled the oil now and needs to drain some out…GRRRR.
I don’t know how you blokes manage to do anything to your bikes. I can’t even change the oil without a million interuptions.

I gues that most of us started on the spaners when we were kids,,,,and now we’r still playing with em. HA! Just takes a bit of practice and lots of tricks. Keep asking lots of questions.
