Yes I am a SEAman not a SEMEN  (you idjit) and the forks are for the Gasgas B) I got some corrosion on the bottom of one of my Marzocchi fork sliders and have been told the Showa option is the way to go. All I need now is someone who is handy on a Mill to bore out my triple clamps a poofteenth ;) anyone know anyone willing to have a go at mates rates

So they’re slightly bigger are they. Should have gone the Fonda triples as well :) I thought you’d have peeps at hand to that sort of stuff?

Being sensible (for a change  ) wouldn’t rechroming one fork tube be cheaper and less hassle maybe  unless the forks aren’t as good as the Showas and the Honda brakes are good stuff as Mr Blue will tell you. Is it a common conversation Ollie?

I thought the same too. I’m betting those Showa’s will be much better than the gasser forks too. The Showa’s I’ve ridden on were all better than my previous KTM’s but I’m getting the CC WP forks dialled in on the Berg I think they are just as good. Shame it took 8 years to catch up!

well not today but Sunday, I seized mine B) (trumps). Then dropped the black metallic paint looking oil :pinch: , tore it apart taking off the cylinder, cried, had to tool out the piston pin from what was left of the piston  , cried, took apart the bottom end and removed parts of the piston skirt, cried, removed the oil pump which looked like it had been sandblasted  , swore then cried, took off the idle gear and the back end of the counter balancer shaft came with…. cried.

So out of anger, like in the movies when some bastard gets carried away and keeps punching someone long after they lose consciousness, I stripped the rest of her down to nuts and bolts, flushed out the frame, dropped it off to get get de-dented (previous owner) and painted, dropped the barrel off at Pro Bore in Pt. Mac. And to make myself feel better did a bit of retail therapy, bought a new oil pump, new kick start assembly counter balancer shaft, 86mm forged piston kit, complete gasket kit with oil seals. So now im broke but happy knowing all my goodies are in the post and with any luck just about all back together in 2-3 weeks.
And thats what I did to/ with my bike not today but yesterday.

Tonight i’m going to start rebuilding toms engine as the new barrel has arrived, new piston and rings, check the valve clearances and hopefully have it back together for the weekend.

It obviously a 4T. What bike is it? Jetting issue or riding it like it’s stolen until it locks up (like any 4T should)?

Probably a 400/450 then. 4t’s typically have smaller piston skirts and since the skirt was found in the bottom end and there was no mention of anything else to suggest 4t I though it less likely it was a 4t. Piston size would suggest otherwise though.

How many 2T bikes have an oil pump Moto? :D (oil injection aside)

    … and a counter balancer?

I probably would buy a F#@^ing Honda if they still made 2 strokes  after seeing all the issues these blown up exspensive 4T’s are having no thanks.
The Showa’s are a common swap, the bomb would have been KYB CC forks off a late model YZ but they cost a bit more. I could have gotten away with rechroming but the Marzocchi’s have a black nitride coating on them as well so it woud have been both legs to be done. Apparently the Marzocchi’s shiver 45’s are a copy of a 92 model Showa (like I had on my 92 Husky 360) In all honesty the new showa’s should outperform the Marzocci;s in every aspect. The problem with the CRF brakes is it is only a 240mm disk Why? I will have to look at trying to get a 260 mm upgrade from somewhere especially since I need as much front end braking as I can get. (remember its only my little finger applying the force 😆 )

I do have access to Machine shops but Im not at home often enough to utilise them,I would just prefer to get a professional mob to do it right the first time.

    I think Bulls Wools bike is a XR400 ?

Honda 2T I would buy one too if registered. Pigs will never fly.
An adapter plate for the caliper would do it Ollie?

I got an early knock off and got stuck into a bit of maintenance , firstly and most importantly I fitted a new billet fuel cap as the original is obviously inferior and had to be changed :D.

Then I pulled off my front wheel as the moose I fitted 4 1/2 months ago seemed very very soft and unstable on the Bello – Lowanna ride and sure enough it was split all over the place and mushy :( . This can’t be a commen problem after that amount of time so it must have been something I did ??? Don’t know what ??

I’ve got a new S12 coming this week so I wanted to have the wheel stripped and ready , on inspection I found one of my front bearings seized solid so I did both bearings and seals and the brake pads so I know the front ends all good for a while :)

I used the air filter cleaner I got from Lefty and it’s great stuff and cleaned my filter in no time ;)

Oil change and air filter oil and fit tomorrow ( maybe ) !!
