STM is right but the Showas are good kit mate
TB
I probably would buy a F#@^ing Honda if they still made 2 strokes  after seeing all the issues these blown up exspensive 4T’s are having no thanks.
The Showa’s are a common swap, the bomb would have been KYB CC forks off a late model YZ but they cost a bit more. I could have gotten away with rechroming but the Marzocchi’s have a black nitride coating on them as well so it woud have been both legs to be done. Apparently the Marzocchi’s shiver 45’s are a copy of a 92 model Showa (like I had on my 92 Husky 360) In all honesty the new showa’s should outperform the Marzocci;s in every aspect. The problem with the CRF brakes is it is only a 240mm disk Why? I will have to look at trying to get a 260 mm upgrade from somewhere especially since I need as much front end braking as I can get. (remember its only my little finger applying the force 😆 )I do have access to Machine shops but Im not at home often enough to utilise them,I would just prefer to get a professional mob to do it right the first time.
I think Bulls Wools bike is a XR400 ?
Ollie
RHK have a 270mm rotor with adaptor that bolts straight on for $250. I put one on my CRF and am very happy with it.

I’m taking the 990 and there will be lots of tennere’s and 950’s etc etc I am sure there are some 650’s not far from you that should be in on this one too.
August 15, 2012 at 12:14 am #227757axel wrote:It obviously a 4T. What bike is it? Jetting issue or riding it like it’s stolen until it locks up (like any 4T should)? Its my sons wr450, a 2010 model that snapped the chain and mashed up the casing where the clutch arm sits in the case  at one point we thought we were going to have to split the motor and get some new crankcases
but after taking the engine out and showing it to a friend he confidantly said he could repair it
.
3 days later we had it back all fixed up :woohoo: welded with a brass bush turned and fitted.
The bike has done around 5000ks so was due a piston and ring kit but he decided to buy a 480 big bore kit
it arrived yesterday so we fitted it tonight, checked the valves and everything else, got the motor back into the frame so will carry on with it at the weekend
August 15, 2012 at 12:19 am #227796Thanks for that info Scotty

August 15, 2012 at 12:35 am #227801Well that’s a pretty good outcome considering Mike. Good stuff.
Hey Rocket, I have some bushes that will fit. Got them ages ago as spares.

August 15, 2012 at 2:21 am #227824yeah, she was a doozey, did a right proper job on it  and only about 1500k’s max after a professional top end re-build. Also found the missing tooth of an idler gear that was replaced that another mechanic told me was definitely not in there anymore…
Ya gotta laugh, learn from it and get on with itAugust 19, 2012 at 9:13 am #227411Got the motor rebuilt the other night ready to put back into the frame , then on thursday I finished early so thought i’d get the engine in the frame ready to put all the other bits back on today(sunday) when Tom came round.
Something had been bugging me about the new shim sizes that I put in thoughso I wanted to check them before we went any further so i took the motor out again
Just as well I did because I’d gone the wrong way with the shim sizes  but once that was all corrected everything else was put back together and it fired up without a drama
So this coming weekend we are out for a run to see how things are with the 480 kit :woohoo:August 19, 2012 at 10:18 am #228118Did with my bike what I bought it for and slammed 552kms on it!
