August 22, 2012 at 10:47 pm #227414Well as you are all aware, I recently purchased a new DR650. It was imbarrasing to ride as a Postie bike made more noise than it. So I fitted a new exhaust yesterday and it now sounds like a dirt bike.
Out of this comes a question : Do I now need to alter the fuel mixture to suit this new exhaust or do I just do nothing but enjoy the new sound.
Any tips would be appreciated.

August 22, 2012 at 11:12 pm #228295If runs alright just leave it. It’s often not necessary to re-jet just for an exhaust. If it pops on decel it’s a smidge lean and may need go down a clip on the needle.
August 23, 2012 at 1:12 am #227415Thanks Moto,
Yes it does crackle abit when you back of the gass. So I will get it looked at so that I don’t do any damage to my valves or what ever.
Will talk to the Left one a see if this is something he can sort out for me.
Cheers Gaz
August 23, 2012 at 1:24 am #228310Let Lefty listen to it, unless it pisses you off it’s likely not an issue. It will be a simple mod to the carbie, should take 5 minutes once you’ve got access to the carbie top pull the slide/needle out.
My 450 used to do it heaps on decel. My old VFR400R did it. My Triumph 675 did it with the twin Arrow Ti cans fitted too, loved it!

If it’s a Barrett Gaz I didn’t touch DeJay’s when I fitted it. It pops a bit but has done 10k and hasn’t missed a beat, goes good as well
