Been doing the rounds of Annaconda etc looking at some hiking fuel containers, but dont like the top / lid of the trangi one. Tried a Motul bottle which was an epic fail and had to chuck out my camel back liner. 1 litre would be perfect but close enough would do just as back up,i like the shape of the CT18 diesel treatment bottle i use on the 4wd as it will fit nice in my ZAC armour combo.
Any suggestions?
June 12, 2012 at 6:24 pm #224022I made up two tubes out of foam camping underlay to slide two of these into my backpack for long rides.
They never leak. The foam tubes came in handy a number of times for forearm splints and wounded soldiers.
June 12, 2012 at 6:35 pm #224036Yep I’ve seen the allu bottles like the above before used. Last year’s birthday ride had fuel bladders auctioned off. I think Mal5.1r2b3 got one. He might have some more info.
June 12, 2012 at 7:19 pm #224041Yeah the 3 liter bladders are the go don’t need to be filled and don’t hurt when you fall on them

June 13, 2012 at 12:11 am #224046I have a 3L bladder but it is to big to fit into my HAWG camelpak. I use the bladder for the adventure bike now.
For trail riding I use the 1L Trangia fuel bottle. It’s tough plastic and made for containing fuel. If I need 2L (for longer rides) I have a cheap aluminium 1L water bottle. I just changed the water gasket for an O ring and it seals fine. It’s only thin alloy and would punture easily.

June 13, 2012 at 1:10 am #224077Ok I will share a secret given to me years ago. These work I know a bloke that can afford / sells all fuel carrying products available on the market and he uses these
CHARLIES TRADITIONAL LEMONADE.. Available from woolworths buy them drink the lemonade and use the bottle, they don’t leak or arent affected by petrol

June 13, 2012 at 2:39 am #224089BCF sell good quality aluminum bottles, 1l, 750ml and 500ml
Not fuel specific but they don’t leak and are cheaper than the fuel specific ones.
June 13, 2012 at 5:25 am #224025Thanks all for your ideas,
looks like im off to Woolies and BCF for some research. Not to stressed about turning into a suicide bomber  cause i’m going to chuck it in quickly. Just need to make room, the first aid stuff its bulky need to store it elsewhere for the reserve to fit im thinking.June 13, 2012 at 12:16 pm #224026A mate of mine has an aftermarket tank that sits in place of the headlight. Holds about 2-3L. A hose runs from it to your fuel cap breather. As you ride it syphons in to your tank and your steering starts to work again haha. Im talking 80s tech here.
June 13, 2012 at 12:57 pm #224027Could try one of these.
