You know what I mean. You’re young, you have no money, that which you do have goes on the bike, so you end up riding in an assortment of clobber that is the best you can do, but totally unsuitable

    I’ll start.

I rode my Honda CB 200 around UK and down through France and Spain in a Donkey Jacket, bell bottom Levi’s (it was 1978) and a pair of Hush Puppies (see comment about 1978).

It was OK as long as it didn’t rain (which it did a lot in UK) and it wasn’t too hot (which it was in France and Spain).

So what is the worst gear you have ever ridden in?

That rips that jersey its gold. But the question was “What is the worst gear you have ever had?” LC you arent cool enough to wear Polka dots LC

I bought 2 pair of Oneil pants in 2004 to wear to the Cape on an XR600R. They were brand new when I rode out of Cairns. Threw the first pair out at the Tip as they had fallen apart to the stage of unwearable  The second pair fell apart on the 2nd last day and I wore jeans the last day :pinch:

Worst piece of shit riding gear I ever owed, EVS Strata knee guards, broke after 3 rides and I didn’t even crash, the hinge is made from plastic and it just snapped.

I remember about 20 years ago I had a Lazer helmet. We had a really wet weekend ride up at Buladelah I placed my helmet and boots near the fire to dry out next morning the helmet had deformed to a totally unusable blob. They were apparently 100% Nylon. The heat had also exposed a flaw in the Join line a decent hit would have opened it up like a water melon :S

Had a mate with a PE175 about the same time (20 years ago maybe longer) he had a pretty new Lazer helmet. It had never had a hit and fell of the handle bars onto the concrete and split in half almost. He pulled it apart by by hand, like your said Ollie a seem right up the middle and looked like it was glued together

When I was 17 I rode a RD250LC from Wauchope to Sydney in cyclonic conditions, wearing ugg boots, jeans and a padded Tycon Jersey, the Ugg boots were a sodden wad around my ankles, the jersey weighed about 10kg once it was full of water and I near froze to death. :pinch:

As far as shit gear goes, two notable examples come to mind.

Firstly a pair of Oneal boots that lasted 2 months before the “leather” delaminated and both soles started to fall off. Cassons (The Australian Distributor) wouldn’t warrant them as they reckoned the boots had been water logged. I refuse to buy any Oneal gear since then.

The 2nd was a pair of Rjays wet weather pants that didn’t even last the 2 hour trip to Buladelah before they split in the crotch. To Mudntar’s credit they gave me my money back. :)

    O`Neal Fazer boots

They were cheap at the time and all I could afford,,,
Didn`t take long to wear out and go soft in the ankle area,,,

Needless to say I was wearing them when I stuffed my ankle on the Hill End Ride a few years ago :pinch:
Ankle has never been the same, never will be and I have never looked back after replacing them with the TCX Pro`s
