This thread is for anyone to ask questions and/or provide suggestions/answers regarding off road bike racing.

I know very little and will admit I’ve never even been to an off road bike race unless you count Beemers rolling race :p

What I wanted to cover here in this thread is a list of the different types of racing in Australia and worldwide, the preparation/set up required (objective view mostly but some subjective opinions welcomed), an overview of each of the different racing types and the different racing organisations including their specific requirements.

Hopefully I can create some summary posts covering the requirements of each group and maybe we can even get something onto wiki with a link to a thread here?!

I’ll leave this OP as the scope definition and update it as the thread evolves and I’m happy for the mods to add something here if they feel the need.

    Cheers.

First question I have is what are the local NSW races available and if you could include the associated organisations and any requirements such as licences that would be great.

p.s thankfully my 800th post is a positive one rather than “how do I fix this” – hopefully a sign of things to come!

Thanks I’ve been looking at that. Are all of the pony express races on there I can only see 2?

Each club puts their own Pony Express’ on, unfortunately it seems that The Hastings Valley Club is only holding one next year and that is in June from memory. They also have a sprint series though which is a bit like a pony express track only you race against the clock.
You will have to join a club first and they will put you in the right direction regarding Pony Express’.

Great thanks – I guess next step is to talk to a couple of the nearby clubs and see what they have lined up for the new year.

Problem with having plenty to choose from is there’s too many to choose :)

Any opinions on them or should I just look at their calender and pick one? Anyone else looking to race next year?

I can really only speak for Dungog and thats been a few years since I was a member. They come very highly recommended Trent Lean is the President top guy and the club is mainly into cross country Enduro and MX.

Trent is also the manager for BMW Motorad Australia and its his property that we will be staying on in February ;)

I’m sending my application form of to these guys in the morning.

And then starting the process of getting a license.

I’m planning on doing the A4DE (only cause it’s in my back yard) and if I have to pay $275 I might as well do some other events. Medogrocket is keen to do a few too and has been pestering me to get my license for a while now.

Probably just need a crew to start with. Why? Are we going to enter an Old Bulls team?
