I think the pressure of financing this site has led to its dimmise , I for one feel that a lot of the comments this year regarding who spends what to keep Old Bulls going has basically put people off as trail riding is basically a free sport once your geared up. Comments about targets that constantly need to be hit and that some feel that when money is donated that they can then feel motivated to comment on threads isn’t what It’s all about. I realise that it costs money to run a site and that it’s an issue raising it sometimes but for me the money side has overtaken the fun side so the balance now is all wrong.
Nick
I can only presume nick that comment is directed at me, thanks for your input noted! but from my side it is frustrating that I can’t get any help to pay for it, I have personally funded the site since it’s inception with the exception of when we have raised some money at rides etc, which didn’t bother me as I had the money, then when I got ill and had barely an income there was no help and the only thing that I could think of was to push the donations. I think it may be time to can it and move on

I think ads would be a good idea and not to intusive. As you said, most sites have them now anyway, even many of our you tube videos.

I for one have been avoiding commenting for quite some time and a number of reasons, most of all not wanting to be labelled as a whiner :laugh:Loss of employment, 6 months loss of income (which I`m still trying to recover from), long running family illness , the deaths of a couple of mates and just plain old lack of time & interest did it for me,,,
Yeah, I still lurk around, log in occasionally and do have a look here & there from a moderator point of view, but there`s been stuff all to moderate the past 12 months anyway when I log on, maybe the other guys beat me to it.
My main interest is still and will continue to ADV riding and there`s stuff all interest for that on the site as well, so along with the other reasons I found myself frequenting a few FB pages/ groups and have even been linked to a Hunter ADV group page with a few mates that I get to ride with occasionally. My local solo rides still continue also whenever I feel like getting away for a few hrs or the day and let`s face it, we have some great riding areas within our Hunter region that I can ride to from my door (as do a lot of other blokes further afar).
For sure I`ve enjoyed pretty much every ride, event, gathering I`ve encountered on OBT and have made some great friends that I hope will still be around for a long time yet and whilst I really hope the site can continue, I can fully understand the reasons why if it has to come to an end or fade away
Cheers from me
Sorry to hear that Beags, hope all is o.k now.
Cheers
Chris.November 12, 2015 at 2:48 am #262883I think this topic had to be addressed and well done Fossil for putting it to the floor as I’m sure it has been on the members minds for sometime.
No one is to blame for this, things change and as each member who has posted on this topic should be congratulated for doing so.
At the end of the day, what ever happens to this website is the decision on Chris and TB, it’s their baby
Us as members should never demand anything from this site, or those who run it.
Pretty much we are the users and you will only ever get out what you put in.
Yes things have changed a lot in the world of social media, most notably Facebook…or “My face” as I like to call it (get pissed and start replacing the word Facebook with My Face and you will understand why..quite fun..try it )
But shit, i guess we have to try and adapt with the changes as best as we can. Maybe somehow link the My Face ride groups of OB members to this site??I dunno, just a suggestion ,I’m a bit of a puter retard so I probably don’t know what the hell I’m talking about. Sometimes, people just couldn’t be fucked I know, so post a link perhaps?
To have this website going for as long as it has still amazes me for a few reasons. Firstly it is not created to generate an income. And secondly it has been driven buy a heap of like minded random units which in some cases have never met each other  That, in my opinion, has always been the strength behind this group. What we have is unique and it is up to us as members if we want it to sink or swim.
Soooooo,post your thoughts :woohoo:
Post photos of Snowys fat arse :woohoo:
Post photos of Snowys fat shaved arse :sick:I know members lurk…and lurk, maybe while you are having a good lurk, post your thoughts, ideas, upcoming rides(even if it is on My Face) :cheer:
I’ve noticed that some members have re engaged with a few posts of late…maybe we all needed a good kick up the arse?
Bad shit happens when good men stay silent, post your opinion…good or bad it’s all constructive.
By no means would I ever tell anyone how to suck eggs or what to do (as you would tell me to get stuffed anyway  ) but if we want this site to continue, it’s up to us.
I’ve thought long and hard about this and probably should have posted my thoughts earlier but I have been bike shopping…or tyre kicking more like itand I’m looking forward to getting half hung up a pine tree real soon :woohoo:
Life is short…or shorter if you ride like me :unsure:Stay upright
Bol :woohoo:

Good on ya Boll, you are correct and we have to adapt and trust me I am working on it, I have put too much effort into the site to see it go to shit, hopefully this weekend I will be able to perform some miracles it’s always been a compromise between having downtime or doing updates, now I have decided it is time to update. Stay tuned peeps I have some great things coming and hopefully it will breathe some life into old bulls..
Keep Smiling
Chris.

Chris. Thanks Chris, Just organize it to suit yourself mate, not so much about the organizing more about the time at the moment but thanks for the thought. I have just bought a house so have packing / moving to do in between kids duties. Once we move the place needs painting inside and out, settling in etc and we are having christmeas day at ours so it needs to be done before then. Post up the ride to suit yourself, if I can get out for even half a day I will

December 9, 2015 at 11:53 am #262977I haven’t been on here lately. ☹
Good to see there are still some good rides being organised.
December 18, 2015 at 6:18 am #263152I was a facebook hater but now im on it (dirt bikers only) I see that it is really good for local stuff, but you cant meet riders from 600ks away on FB, Through OBT ive met top blokes from all over NSW, QLD and Menace and ridden trails I never would have. If your only riding locally you are missing out.
Is it possible to make OBT a facebook group? Its just easier to use and phone friendly, I hope it survivesDecember 18, 2015 at 9:18 am #263182BellingenEv wrote:I was a facebook hater but now im on it (dirt bikers only) I see that it is really good for local stuff, but you cant meet riders from 600ks away on FB, Through OBT ive met top blokes from all over NSW, QLD and Menace and ridden trails I never would have.
