Do you carry it over your bum…or around the front?
I carry mine at the front, feels like it protects my small gut …but seeing the photo,i might end up with a spanner in my guts  …(mostly snakes and ciggies in my bum bag anyway)
Bol :woohoo:I wear mine at the front too Bol ! You just got to make sure you land on your back I guess !

With everyone carrying so much gear in there bumbags including me be real careful how you position tools inside your bumbag that are near your body.
Below is a photo after I had been over the bars and landed on my back the force of hitting the ground broke my neckbrace and I honestly thought I had done severe damage to my back. As the bruise developed you could clearly see the outline of the spanners I was carrying in my bumbag in the bruise. That was a fox bumbag that has the tool part up against your body. Now when I pack my kelly bumbag I give myself a bit of padding between the tools and my body.Good post Scott cheers I hear what you are saying but carrying the same in your backpack or wearing at the front all have chances of hurting you for sure.
The kellys are the ducks guts and I have to get one. That crash you had sounds like a cracker and in reality you could have landed on a rock and done the same or worse given it broke a Leatt as well!!!
I have padding at the front of my highly tuned body for crash protection so I wear it at the front but am mindful of what you are saying for sure
I reckon for every one time I open my bumbag for me I use it 5 times for others which is fine the thread is here to help and get useful input like yours Scott and everybody elses

May 8, 2011 at 2:57 pm #200782Yeah I wear mine on the front too. Trouble is, every now and then it will jam the “wedding tackle” against the tank especially if it has a bit of weight in it. The bum bag , not the wedding tackle that is.
(I will most likely live to regret posting that statement) :blush:If I wear it on the back it tends to try and pull my dacks down.
May 8, 2011 at 5:09 pm #200785I don’t carry too much in my bumbag, I carry the original bike toolkit in my backpack and just have a few extra items in the bumbag like a multi tool, tyre levers, t-bar and sockets and a couple of extra spanners. I was carrying a pair of vice grips as well but realise now that it has been brought up that I don’t have one in there now, not sure why but will put one back in. I also used to have cable ties stuffed under the cover of the bar pad but bit by bit I have used them all and need to remember to replace them.
I too lost a fender bag and so now carry a spare tube in my bumbag as weel which also acts as padding from some tools. I wear mine on the front as my gut helps hold it in place, when it is at the back i can feel it bouncing around on the rougher stuff and tsometimes it slips too low and I end up sitting on the edge of it.
Spare levers, metal putty, tyre repair kits and the like go in the backpack as well. And that reminds me, does anyone know where you can buy replacement plastic buckles or clips?

May 8, 2011 at 8:23 pm #200757G’Day guys, I just bought a really good setup from Kreigar. Its the 3L Hydra Pack with the US-5 add on & tool roll
I bought it so the 5L add on attaches to the Hydration Pack when Im on the 450 and comes off easily and straps to the adventure bike when I like. you can also get a tank strap and turn it into a tank bag.
The tool roll fits in nicely to the 5L with all of my tools inc tire levers. Lucky both are KTM with similar tools.
Pics are on the site below. I will do a follow up with pics of mine.
Its a really well designed and good comfortable shoulder strap clip system. They also have bigger packs and accessories that all strap together. It hasnt had much use yet but the quality is top of the line.May 8, 2011 at 8:28 pm #200799Alpine Stars bumbag.
has zip ties, 100mph tape, a knife, some calico bags and a length of rope.

Haven’t seen the kreiga bumbag yet but I’m sure it’s top quality. Maybe when my Kelly bumbag falls apart in 100 years time I’ll check out the kreiga !!
May 9, 2011 at 12:15 am #200809Here is my “kit” that I carry around my waist when riding.
Whats there?
A set of KTC open end ring spanners.
¼” drive Sockets , a T-Bar and extension
Home made tyre valve tool
Zip ties
Tube repair kit
Lighter
Chain joining links 420/520
Insulation tape
Spare plug for the XR
2 X BRE8 plugs for two bangers
Pen
Spare levers
KTC pliers
Screw driver with an assortment of attachments
Allen Keys
3 x tyre levers
Some spare change for the ferry or what ever.
A hand pump
Light weight KTC shifter
Spare hose clamps
A piece of hacksaw blade. (has a myriad of uses)
Mechanic gloves ( for working on tyres and chains etc.)
Assortment of metric bolts.
The blue rag every thing is sitting on has several purposes, all the tools are wrapped in it to keep it all together and it is also handy for a ground sheet for putting parts etc on, as well as being a piece of general rag for cleaning. As TB said, I have a Kelly bum bag. A great product, that will last for a long time.
Although. I have seen some good things on other bags, that I would have liked on my Kelly. ie. a clear fold out flap that holds maps. Snowy has one on his bum bag and it appears to be real handy. Here it is, maybe I should have cleaned it for the photo.
May 9, 2011 at 1:26 am #200801Ah yeah Mick the hacksaw blade I remember the first time you used that after I said to carry one, you used it on a radiator repair coolant leak or the likes. I remember you ringing up saying it saved someones bacon
Bloody embarrassed to say I didnt get mine out of the compartment I had it in my old kimgchrome bag and put it in the fox one, cheers for he reminder
Bloody love this thread

I carry Panadol and some heartburn tablets in my Camel back. That is the extent of the first aid supplies that I carry though. I best do something about that.
