Bol :woohoo:February 23, 2012 at 2:40 pm #216842Been reading thread and want to get a few things straight…….
1st Didn’t you own a underpowered TTR250 that you rode at Sunny Corner a while back now.
If that was you……. why would you sell a DRZ400 cause they ‘I would think’ have more power than the TTR and I would have thought that it would have been the perfect bike for you, cause lounge chair type seat and realiable, ‘so I am lead to believe.’
Drz would be suited for grade 3 riding.
Really buy the bike you want or dream of, or be a tight-ass and wait for a bargain….
No help at all was I
February 23, 2012 at 3:14 pm #216845Hey Dude,
Never had a TTR 250. I think you may be referring to the guy I was with at the Sunny Corner OBT ride, Gary AKA the Iron Chef.
I had been on the DRZ 400 for some time now. It was a great bike I enjoyed it alot, she was geting a bit long in the tooth, and damn heavy to pick up.
I think a newer style 250 will suit me.
Time will soon tell.
As for $$, getting any cash out of the Minister of War and Finance (read Wife) is always a struggle, you will never see me on a brand spanking new bikeCheers
ActionFebruary 23, 2012 at 5:14 pm #216758G’Day Action,
Thought i would wade in here with my next to useless opinion.I have ridden with you a couple of times and i think that you would do great on a 250.
The WR seems to be a good thing and very reliable!
I have ridden both the CRF, WR and the KTM 250s and surprise, surprise, i like the KTM (no comments from you TB). :laugh:Who knows maybe when i get too old for a big bore i might down size to a 250 as well!
Rebore.
February 23, 2012 at 5:55 pm #216759OK I’ll throw my useless opinion in too, why not a mid size, I’ve got the Husky TE310 but there’s heaps of others, you get more torque so you don’t have to rev the crap out of it and keep it on the boil like a 250, they are generally over sized 250s so you do get a weight advantage provided you don’t buy red as the Japanese seem to thnk a trail bike sould weight 33% more than a MX bike so it will go better in the bush – go figure.
However, if your old and fat (like me) the 2 st is not a bad option, everything Ollie put forward is pretty right in my book (though he does write with his rose coloured glasses on !!)
The answer is to get along to a ride day or play swaps with your mates till you find what you like!
On top of all this shite, Bob is the rightest of us all … get out there Dude and do it!!February 23, 2012 at 6:38 pm #216850Iva wrote:OK I’ll throw my useless opinion in too, why not a mid size, I’ve got the Husky TE310 but there’s heaps of others, you get more torque so you don’t have to rev the crap out of it and keep it on the boil like a 250, they are generally over sized 250s so you do get a weight advantage provided you don’t buy red as the Japanese seem to thnk a trail bike sould weight 33% more than a MX bike so it will go better in the bush – go figure.

why dont all dirt bikes have 6 speeds now
as you were  stop procrastinating and get out there and ride :laugh:Ollie
February 25, 2012 at 12:23 pm #216846450 is the go, much easier to ride both skill and fitness wise, the weight you will hardly notice but the power you will.
Also there more versatile you can gear it to climb hills or ride on the highway.
