    Hey TB

Been watching with interest the Camerons corner preparations with Envy.
I am looking to do the same sort of thing in 12 months time.
Good luck with the weather. It looks wet hey?

Anyways, the question is – Why buy the Tenere ?

I assume you looked at the BMW 650/800gs ?
    The KLR650
The banana DR650 (Vince Strang $10 000 all set up wow that’s cheap)
Honda ( would that be the Transalp ?)
    Triumph Tiger (hee hee hee….)

From what I gather the Tenere is a few grand more. Is it that much better ?

I have a 2010 WR450. It is great. Maybe the Tenere would be a logical addition to the stable.

Just thought I’d ask anyways. If you’ve already done all the homework it makes it shit easy for me doesn’t it ?

I assume you looked at the BMW 650/800gs ? Yes I looked at the BMW’s cost was the main thing because everything with the exception of the heated grips I was going to have to do to the bemmers as well. I like the Bemmers but for me it was the up front out lay and cost of spares and accessories is ridiculous. Nice bike and maybe one day when I am older

The KLR650 IMO the only thing the kawasaki has going for it is cost, the bike has nothing else going for it IMO. I have ridden two now and did consider one for a minute and researched the mods needed, if you just like cruising softer style they will do the job and are very reliable

The banana DR650 (Vince Strang $10 000 all set up wow that’s cheap) The DR650 was my next choice and a Srang one would have been the way to go IMO. Two DR650’s just set to coast to coast record of 3 days and 20 hours they are very reliable and a great adventure bike proven

Honda ( would that be the Transalp ?) Honda dont offer anything new that I know off

Triumph Tiger (hee hee hee….)Kidding the Tiger would have been over its head in my driveway (its concrete by the way)

From what I gather the Tenere is a few grand more. Is it that much better ? Yes and no, the suspension on a stock Tenere is terrible and needs attention but any of the bikes you have listed will as well if you are going to carry bags and crap. The Tenere I have is now a very balanced very stable ride that does everything I want it to do the way I want to do it

I have a 2010 WR450. It is great. Maybe the Tenere would be a logical addition to the stable.

Just thought I’d ask anyways. If you’ve already done all the homework it makes it shit easy for me doesn’t it ? Yes mate it does and you are welcome to take mine for a ride if we can hook up, I am doing a BIG write up regarding my bike and its first 4000kms all the mods all the mistakes I have made and all the successes I have had IMO

Note everything I have written is my opinion, but the opinion written is from experience or having spent over 6 months researching or speaking with people whose experiences or opinions I respect before I out layed my hard earned ;)

Awesome, I look forward to the write up. 4000kmm? that won’t be very far in the future with Camerons Corner coming up…

I certainly like the look of your Tenere all kitted out.
    Fuel economy sounds impressive too.
I’m assuming it’s comfortable as well.

Thanks for posting your opinions mate.

I am also in the market for an adventure bike, although the Drz 400 e did a great job on the Camerons Corner ride I was lucky enough to ride TBs Tenere on and off rode on the way home and I was very impressed. It is very comfortable in the seat and feels great off road standing up.
I have looked at all the options and it ended up between the DR650 and the Tenere, weight was my biggest concern but after riding one it felt lighter than I thought it would so I think I’ve made up my mind ! :)
