Well a well known figure on OBT is as I type this test riding a KTM. This person has been known to hang it on KTM’s and KTM jockeys like a full time job  He has never been a KTM fan and I for one thought he had some hope and idea but well now he will be left to wander the earth with no idea until time forgets him
Will he come clean and confess his new ride or will he take a while to come clean
TB
September 4, 2010 at 3:53 am #186909so another one has seen the light!!
it’ll Be quite some time before he or she comes clean!!
so it’ll be when it goes in for it’s first service i’d say
as with any Kato owner you just never want to get off it!!!!.
September 4, 2010 at 4:24 am #186915Yep its me,,thats right I am looking at KTM LC4 640 to take to camerons corner or birdsville next year, I want a bike I can take out there , say, yep done that and then sell it,
I looked at the possible purchase and it should do the trick for what I want except the peanuts put the kick start on the wrong side WTF :pinch: , can treat as a throw away bike, KTM to the rescue there, I dont want to put those kind of Ks on the DRZ.
Anyway if i took the DRZ I would be waiting at nearly every corner for the rest to catch up, this way I will be towards the rear of the pack all the time and they can wait for me.
spoke to lord KATO last night in a dream,, yous didnt tell me he was gay. 😆

September 4, 2010 at 6:06 am #186923only for a little while sunshine, just a little while
September 4, 2010 at 6:51 am #186925WTF!!!!
Boony have you gone mental!
Firstly you buy a KTM and secondly it’s a 640.
Did you get a bag of spare bolts with it.
Here’s tip before you off to far from home. Remove all the bolts from the bike and put them in a bucket. Then buy 2 litres of high strength Loctite and pour into the bucket and let soak for a day or two. Now put the bike back together.
Sorry mate but hey have a reputation for vibration and losing bolts.
Congrats for adding a bike to the family mate.
September 4, 2010 at 7:24 am #186928your the third person Mal to say they are like a dildo on steroids and shake themselves to pieces????
I havent bought it yet??still doing homework on it.September 4, 2010 at 7:34 am #186912I have heard similar from many people regarding the 640
Still, they lok to be a great bike for that sort of trip Boony & I`m sure with some quality shedtime, could be tinkered with to reduce the bolt loosening problem,,,,,,Loctite sponsoship maybe
GavB has recently bought one mate & seems to be loving it to bits, riding it everywhere lately.
Pm him and have a chat to pick his brain about the 640 (it won`t take too long)
Seriously though, Gav is a mate of mine & knows his stuff, he will surely help you out with anything
you need to know mateSeptember 4, 2010 at 7:42 am #186913On another note,,,
There have been a few good buys in the XT660Z department lately,
There were two in QLD between $12-12,600 with good mods to suspension, pannier setups, bashplates, pivotpegs etc etc
Both had only 4,500 – 5,000ks on clock as they had been purchased, setup for a one off trip then sold etcBoth were separate owners I had spotted on bikepoint & tradingpost while I was scanning the web & dreaming of what coud be, only if I had the $$$ laying around at the moment
Food for thought,,
September 4, 2010 at 7:51 am #186933Boony seriously give Mal at Sutto’s a ring he has owned them and knows them and if you buy it you will be dealing with him a fair bit anyway (if you want the right bits cheap
). Yeah they do vibrate all the 640’s do it was the only thing I was worried about as Chicken and I looked at the last model 640 adventure.
LC4skin has one closer to the one your looking at as well I think, did you know they are only 625cc
