yes but isnt yours the road going AG model XY.
that has a crankshaft counterweight fitted from the factory??i think LC4’s is different and doesnt have the balancer…im pretty sure the enduro models didnt have it
i may be very wrong though :S
September 4, 2010 at 9:04 am #186940as for the balancer on the counter shaft someone will have to fill us in.
as far as i know the main differences between the 640 and the 625 SXC it the SXC got a ‘high flow’ head, and trimmed down tank, and i think slightly stiffer suspension from the factory.
and looks like alloy muffler instead of the steel one on the 640. oh and no love handles on the SXC.however i may well be corrected.
and as for the kicker being on the wrong side, the button is still on the right side;)
September 4, 2010 at 10:12 am #186943The differences include:
625 – no counter balancer
640 – counterbalanced engine625 – MX gas tank
640 – larger tank (I have both tanks.)625 – Wired for street legal, but not so.
640 – All the EPA crap & street legal.625 – Enduro exhaust can.
640 – Portly super quiet and hot can.The way I see it is that there are no new 640 Dualsport bikes being imported into the US. The 625 is a compromise which allows us to do the bare minimum legalizing needed to get plates. Something KTM cannot do theirselves. Once you add all the street legal stuff to the 625, and remove all the extra crap from the 640, you have about the same bike. Of course the 640 will still weigh a bit more as it has the counter balancer + a couple other things the 625 does not have. I spent some additional $$ changing the exhaust can, getting a Duke gas tank, bash plate and side stand. The charcoal canister just vanished one night – mystery.
For real tight woods the 640 will always be a handful. But for groomed trails, fire roads, and rough blacktop roads the 640 is a BLAST. Ear to ear grins. The darn bike was even fun at Moab
September 4, 2010 at 10:22 am #186947you da man Menace,
i’d buy a 640 over a 625 then

there are a few threads on TT about the advantages/ disadvantages of taking out the counter shaft and balancer to free up some hp… but i doubt it’d be worth the hassle.
September 4, 2010 at 10:38 am #186950The SXC does not have a cush drive hub on the rear wheel as it is supposedly a more competition model for the dirt. If ridden on tar a lot without installing a cush drive hub the SXC gearbox is prone to shitting itself.
I have ridden Gavb’s 640 Adventure and it is quite smooth and very tall on its centre stand. Its like riding on a Jason recliner — sooo comfy. :cheer:Mick
September 4, 2010 at 11:07 am #186952i’d be happy to own either, both very capapble bikes so I’m led to believe.
