Quote:I need a new rear for my WR,what would be the best allround tyre for the winter?Adrian I am very happy with the Perelli Scorpions MX Tyres that we put on my bike for the Kenda. I did a very, very muddy ride last week and they were fantastic.
You also watched me go straight up that step rocky section on the Kenda, they have handled everything I have thrown at them.
July 4, 2010 at 7:15 am #182987I heard sooooo many guys giving the Scorpions a rap on the Poker Run weekend
I have a set for the KLX that I have only run on two rides (I still run Michy AC10`s on the road) and they are by far the best tyre I have seen for the $$$
July 4, 2010 at 7:23 am #183040Yeah I would go a Scorpion from Sutto’s or the wherever you get one I have now tested them back to back against an S12 (kenda etc) and they are the go. The S12 may have a small traction advantage but not enough to worry about and S12’s dont wear as well and arent as consistent as a Pirelli Scorpion IMO. (The S12 is nearly $25 to $30 more expensive)
I am trying another tyre at the moment but the weekend showed its not as good as the Scorpion, an S12 or a VE33 of the top of my head
Good luck

Have a good ride Sunday :cheer:

Thanks mate its good to get an unbiased opinion, you never know with bike shops they sometimes try to push items that are overstocked.
July 9, 2010 at 9:40 am #182988Just switched to Pirelle MX tyres and they are Awsome. Will have to get back to you on durability but after three 70kish rides they are standing up real well
July 10, 2010 at 2:37 am #183418I have been running the MX Extra on the front for three months and mated it up with a rear last week for the Poker Run. I could not think of a better test than the loops last week and it handled real well. No real signs of wear after the first 100k considering how well they gripped.

July 10, 2010 at 4:08 am #183453Not sure how they compare in price with the other tyres mentioned. But sb_250y and I have been very happy with the Bridgestone M404 or the Bridgestone Gritty ED12.
